There aren't any true heavyweight contenders.

    Sad, but true.

the heavyweight scene is the worst in all of boxing, by far. It maybe the worst in the history of boxing. You look at any top 20 and think how the **** did that guy get in the top 20, or that guy or this one...OH wait because there is no one better. They all suck.

The Klitschkos are not fighting the true heavyweight contender's and it's very understandable... the only real challenge to either of them is each other!

Wlad is doing a good job of fighting what's there. The only other problem is that they seem to be sharing duties. Which is a bit of a bad thing, it's like if you lose to one Klitschko, it's like you already lost to "the Klitschkos".
This situation will be over soon, as Vitali probably won't have much more fights left in him, and Wlad will be free to fight all commers.

There is one caveat. VALUEV. It seems to me that both Wlad and Valuev don't want to fight each other. Valuev's camp doesn't want Wlad because Wlad is highly skiled. Wlad's camp doesn't want Valuev beause they are unsure of how Wlad will deal with a fighter who is larger and stronger, a guy who can't be grabbed and pushed off without great efort.
Wlad vs Valuev is one very intriging fight, because it will answer some as of yet unaswered questions about each. Of course that's exactly why they are not trying to make this fight.

Very very sad. Wlad has done all that he pretty much could. Who's left for him to fight? Haye has done nothing to really deserve the fight - but since he's the only one running his mouth - he seems like the only candidate. After they are done with him - then who's next. They'll beaten almost everyone in the top 10 - guess they'll have to beat up all the up and comers.

They are fighting contenders, but not the most meaningful fights.

They were Chagaev before he flew over the Bermuda Triangle or Valuev.

Povetkin and Haye are seen as the rising stars so these are also good fights to take.

The rest bore me quite frankly.

If Wlad fights Arreola, then Povetkin; both would be taking care of business IMO

I don't see the point in fighting Arreola. He looks like **** and he hasn't done anything. Neither has Haye admittedly, but at least he's coming in with some pedigree from cruiserweight. Haye's first fight at heavy was better than anything Arreola has ever done too.

I would rather he just put some serious money Valuev's way and slayed the giant.

the thread title clearly states "true heavyweight contenders" not "undefeated fighters and past champions"`

They are fighting the best heavyweighs. Right now its David Haye and Alex Povetkin.

    oh what short memories.
as if the heavyweight division has always been a thing of beauty.

no one remember just a few years back when we had
    holyfield v ruiz 25/byrd v king fighter/oquendo v king fighter/byrd v king fighter 2/golata v king fighter 32/mcbride v king fighter 5/rahman v king fighter/

if you are not with king over the last 25 years you never got a title shot unless you went through hoops.

now we have europeans and no king , we get complaints from esb that what ,they want king back ???????????

    all hail king.
if some americans not happy with the current crop dont like it ,they can put on there worn out dvds of classics like tubb of lard tubbs v adonis page, or get there joe hipp greatest fights dvd out.

As much as I dislike Haye, I do put him above Arreola at this point.
And it's not really because I think Haye is something special, it's because Arreola is that bad. Completely out of shape in his last fight and he was very close to losing it too.

With that said, Arreola is one of the top heavyweight contenders, and as much of a mismatch as it may be, I think it's a good fight for Wlad to take at this point, as long as Vitali is fighting Haye. Then after Wlad (barring a huge upset) beats Arreola, he can fight Povetkin.
