micky ward vs emmanuel burton (augustus) was a amazing fight.
arturo gatti vs ivan robinson was a amazing fight.

arturo gatti vs micky ward 1,2,3 was a amazing fight.

which fighter do you think is tougher?

arturo thunder gatti or irish micky ward.

...the poll is suppose to say "who is the TOUGHER fighter..."

That's like asking who's hotter, pamela anderson or carmen electra. Apples and oranges; no reason to pick.

Ward.. he would've never thrown the towel in against Mayweather. Ward would have gone out on a stretcher if possible, but no way he would've quit on his stool. Micky was that old school kind of tough that you rarely see these days.

    Probably Ward.

Even though he was little more than a journeyman and Gatti faced a higher level of opposition, he had the heart of a lion.

This is why their fights were so good. They are both practical mirror images of each other, theres no right answer. Although I never seen Ward come back from the type of utter thrashings that Gatti took against the likes of Rivera and Ruelas. As much punishment as Ward took he still took far less than Gatti so if that is the factor to break a stalemate well then maybe it's Gatti.

Uhh McGirt is the one that through the towel. Gatti asked for one more round but McGirt said no. As much of a 'rough around the edges' fighter Ward was, he never received the type of brutal outclassing that Gatti received in the Mayweather fight. I'm sure if Ward was on the receiving end his team would have stopped it too. There was absolutely NO hope for Gatti in that fight, better off having him fight another day then continue to get abused.

For all the stick Buddy takes on this forum, he was 100% correct to pull his man out - in fact he could be slated for letting it go on as long as it did, as could the referee.

Even Gatti's promoters didn't want the fight - if a promoter says no to some $$$ then you ought to know for yourself that you shouldn't be fighting.

I had Gatti behind 60-50 on the card.

With no disrespect to Gatti, I think Ward is tougher. I still don't know how the hell he got up from the bomb Gatti hit him with in the 3 round of their second fight.

I saw an interview with Micky and he said something along the lines of "I would rather die in that ring than quit"..... Ward is a true warrior and when he says something like that i have to believe him.

There comes a point that you pass where some things become indistinguishable... (if thats spelled right, and a word lol) I hate when people try to compare one warriors heart to anothers when both have given all they can...

If Gatti really wanted to go on he could have told McGirt to go to hell and gone on for one last plastering.. but he didn't, McGirt said it, and Gatti just conceded to it. Ward would have never gone out like that.

lol ok. because bloody, battered and broke down fighters always tell their trainers to go to hell when offering to save them from a hopelessly one sided annihilation.
