Congratulations to Matt Skelton who won the European heavyweight title by stopping Paulo Vidoz in Milan last night. According to the BBC Sport website he could now fight Martin Rogan. Could be an interesting scrap, with two tough guys who started boxing late.
Rogan is nowhere near ready he should go out against some journeymen and fringe world title challengers names like Henry Akinwande and Sam Sexton before he gets anywhere close to euro level. I have also said that Skelton could move up to world level by taking on Sam Peter [or perhaps being used as a warm up fight for David Haye]
Why the **** would Haye fight Skelton. Skelton vs Rogan could be a tear up, tbh id rather see it in a bar then a boxing ring. Skelton will win it and go on to fight Chisora.
Skelton should try and keep himself in line for another world title shot. He would certainly have been a better fight for Haye than Barret was.
Rogan is a clubfighter in truth, and went life and death with Audley Harrison. Skelton would have KO'd that bum in about six. Rogan vs Chisora would be a decent fight though. Skelton will be in the top 15 with the WBC, and if I am being honest, he is capable of beating most of those. Chagaev and the Klits would be a bit too far, but most of the rest.......... If he hadn't have been a Warren fighter, a Haye fight may have happened.
Id hardly call that fight life or death. Either way Rogan is a part time cabby who hit the big time on Prize Fighter. Props to the guy but he`s area level at best. Skelton doesnt need to be fighting a guy like him. Thats a bog step backwards and may make him look even cruder than he is as Rogan has a decent beard.
Life and death was the wrong phrase - but the fight was close. If you have a close fight with Harrison it isn't form that would suggest he is capable of beating Skelton.
