IMO kessler-larsen would be a step back for kessler.Kessler must try go get he´s fight in the US with a top opponent.If Mads wants to fight kessler,he need to make a bigger name of him self. If they fought right now,i think kessler would run larsen over...larsen can´t handle kesslers pace...
He was supposed to fight the 2nd best SMW in Mundine, but he got scared so much he gave up the title. Haussler was a mandatory, even if an undeserved one, Mikkel wanted to keep his title, so he had to fight him. HBO is indeed interested in Kessler, and would be more than happy to stage a Kessler vs. Winky, Taylor or Hopkins fight. Even a Dawson fight, but Chad doesn't want to fight at a contracted weight limit, something like 170 pounds and Kessler is not a LHW. Winky, Taylor and Hopkins, they just simply don't want to fight Kessler. Too much risk for the paycheck, I guess. But in a bad economy like this, don't expect to get $5MIL for a fight.
isn't he pushing 30 aswell!!?? team palle needs to get their ass in gear and go to the US or unify with froch or something!! These have got to be his prime years and he cant waste them fighting rubbish fighters.
I am pretty sure we will see a decent opponent for Kessler in around March. But only as a build up for a late summer fight against taylor or Hopkins. Going the route of capturing titles has worked for Palle in the past, so I guess he is taken the "safe" route to succes. People then has the right to agree or disagree with the choices made by Team Palle. Most people in here seems to disagree.
palle and kessler have made all the right moves to beat SMW contenders and get a fight with calzaghe. but thats only because they are 'stepping stone' fights. we're talking about mixing it with thwe big boys now and being taken seriously by players who have taken bigger fights than kessler and so command bigger paydays. you have to think bigger than that or else you'll join the graveyard of the junior witters of this world who had some skill but who never clicked into what it takes to gét major fights. dont defend palle because "its worked so far" - because palle's never had this sort of oportunity before. he's milking mikkel the same way frank warren did calzaghe and hatton. promoters are businessmen, and you cant afford to be naaive enough as a fighter to not see through this. you can sell anything to the public if you're a "world champion" - palle is banking on this. thats why he took sartisan over miranda.
the real problem is that Palle only has Kessler. If Kessler loses, what does Palle have to fall back on? That's why Kessler will likely never achieve greatness with Palle. Palle can't afford to take risks.
I am not here to defend Palle... But I guess that I has more insight in this than most. The choice to fight for the WBA title was the right one in my oppinion, to bad the plan of "getting rid" of Haussler without fighting him failed. Let us discuss further when Kesslers next opponent is announced in january. As it seems right now it is going to be in US.
