Harder Puncher- Sam Langford or Bob Fitzsimmons?

I'd like to believe that Langford beat hit this hard, but I remain at least skeptical in a logical sense.

All of Fitz and Joe Choynski's common opponents said that Joe clearly hit harder then Fitz.

And, following that train of thought, Langford sure as hell didn't spark out Jack Johnson like Choynski managed to, and this is when Langford weighed in as a middleweight against Johnson. So how can Langford rank higher then Choynski in a P4P sense?

 

Dunkhorst's weight was only author's estimation. NY Sun, for example, said he "weighed at least 225 pounds." He was described as very fat, and was considered "fourth class boxer", never having won any important fight. Also not quite a one-punch KO, IMHO, as Fitz was beating him mercilessly, until he was ready to drop on his own, from exhaustion, when Bob landed that left hook.

 

In terms of pure power maybe Langford just but Fitz seemed to be more economical with his shots. Interesting that Russell mentioned Choynski who Jeffries and Johnson said hit them hardest Corbett might have as well can't remember. Regardless all of these men had amazing power and more so how they were able to carry their power up in weight, as all were punchers from middleweight (even lower for Sam) to heavyweight.

 

If you are arguing that Langford is more proven against world class fighters over 200 lbs then I wont contradict you.

I have heard reports of Dunkhorsts weight ranging from 220-300 lbs for differnt fights so it is hard to know exactly what his real weight was or what his condition was like for a given fight. What I do know is that a lot of people thought that the size diference would be too much for Fitz to overcome and were shocked by the ease with which he disposed of Dunkhorst.

When Hague found out how big Sam Langford was he laughed and said that he wouldnt bother to train because no 5' 6'' 170 lb fighter could beat him.

Common oponents of Choynski and Fitzsimmons all seem to name Choynski as the hardest hitter they ever faced while Fitzsimmons seems to have been more durable and the better finisher. I do thionk that comparisons between Choynski and the aforementioned gentlemen are valid.

It's not easy to be sure. More evidence for Langford vs 210+ Ib good fighters; but maybe that's cause Fitzsimmons big-guy opponent was Jeffries. Could Langford have stopped Jeffries? Sam's manager, at least, publicly disavowed any interest in machting against Jeffries.

I have installed the "Dunkhorst chip" into my computer which deletes any mention of his name. I assume he has been brought up in this thread.
