I never produced a source. I heard it from the horse's mouth. It is so comical when a AM or Pac fan talk about Floyd lol. They mention Floyd is scared, Floyd wants soft touches lol. I remember a fighter who said this to a fan's face when the fan called a fighter a coward lol...check this out:

On being called scared, a bum, or coward by fans :
MARCUS RHODE: It doesn’t bother me because the simple fact is half these guys have never put the leather on, they have never been hit, never been nothing. It doesn’t bother me because all they can do is run their mouth because if they could get in the ring they would have gotten in there...

No doubt...I truly respect the guy's opinion yet give him a thread about Floyd and all credibility goes out the window...

But he IS a great poster...

How did all credibility go out the window?, thanks for the kind compliments but there's nothing that suggests all credibility goes out the window. You started throwing insults in your posts and I did the same. When it came down to the discussion I gave you simple facts about what was going on at the time, you refuse to read through them and when you refuse to do so you're ignoring simple facts that took place at the time which did play a major role in specific fights not taking place. That's how it works in boxing, not everything is just trash talk and get a fight signed. Margarito back then was just looking for recognition through another man's name, his resume was far too poor to get him the recognition he deserved and that was during a time where Mayweather had a long list of far better options which weren't as easy as many claim they were.

Your too much INTO Floyd's life to step out of the box and see what you're saying...your basing a premise on "facts" when there is none to back up what you're saying...just negotiations...

You talk about Arum said this and Floyd didnt have better options...but cmon now...just man up and say that Floyd is CAUTIOUS...maybe a better word instead of fear will allow you to finally admit that he takes a much too cautious approach...it's a fairly wise one too...there's a great chance of him losing and totally having his stunning legacy torn apart for losing to a "bum" or someone who hasnt done much outside of 147...

Your a great poster and I think you're taking this a bit too personal...but to not be able to see all this ridiculous defense lines you just came out with is a bit sad...boxing knowledge isnt always about following the stories and lives of each fighter...

But again...you are correct...I have no "answer" for you at the moment...or at least the kind of answer your looking for...But hopefully Cotto beats Margarito in emphatic fashion and then we can talk about a possible looming match-up between Floyd and Cotto...or hopefully AM beats both of his challenges and fights Williams and avenges the loss...then we can see that...but if either fighter does what he needs to do and Floyd is still "waiting" around...Will you still find another excuse? Another line of "reasoning"...You constantly give Margarito **** for not avenging losses...but the man is not retired...he's not finished...not even close...so give the man some time and im sure Williams will make a name for himself and the rematch will be not only dramatic but an epic battle...

Floyd has already proclaimed himself a finished fighter...then decides he wants to return...but Pac is already on board with Hatton...so what is he going to do then? fight no one when there are SOOOO many options out there now...:-(

But I'm sure with everything else...it'll just take time...all excuses, questions and doubts will be answered...with time...

Until then...its just us on ESB speculating...

Well again...I have to be a bit questionable with anyone im in discussion with when we're discussing their favorite fighter...

to me...Tito4eva LOVES tito, but knows when to draw the line between excuses and reasoning and when it comes to being real...

I'm not calling you an DELUSIONAL nuthugger...you're not...but cmon now...this negotiation and "fact" talk is out of hand...

People always talk about Cotto quitting...and in reality...the man said it himself...I have nothing to say to that...but in my own mind and many others...there have been plenty of "facts" that show the contrary...but at the end of the day...he quit...

But again with the previous post...we'll both see with time...Because as some other poster mentioned...i think all this retirement talk is just a ploy for a self-promoting strategy...I think Floyd will really cement his legacy to the top with solid wins against the best...but he's waiting for the right moments...

So we should discuss this another "time"...when I have "researched" more "facts" :yepand more fights pass...I look forward to it:good

Cotto really doesnt give a **** who you put in front of the man...yes...he wants him...AND BAD!

I think seeing Cotto go almost STRAIGHT into the rematch shows he shows no fear

In boxing, when a fighter like Cotto is involved in a brutal fight like the one with AM, and doesn't want to fight anymore, it means he has had enough. So if you believe Cotto quit at the end of the day...keep this in mind: You've never fought professionally, or boxed on his level.

Why didn't Cotto take the fight at 140 with Floyd?

I certainly dont think he quit at all...And although I have not boxed in the pro's or in a certified amateur league...I have boxed in a district tournament and came in 4th...quite an experience...losing is in no ****in' way humbling or fun...I was very upset, angry with myself, and wanted nothing more but to have a rematch and put a serious hurting on the individual...but I was eliminated and that was that...I haven't been back to the sport since...I shadowbox and train occassionally...but it's just part of my workout...but as of recent events...there's nothing more inspiring than Pac's victory that makes me want to train again and hopefully see the bright lights for myself one day...maybe I'm just a dreamer myself...but there's no harm in going after what you desire

I felt Cotto was all heart in that fight and fought with honor and valor...he has nothing to be ashamed of...but he had said in an interview (that i still havent seen yet because no one provides a source) that he quit...I have nothing to say to it because if it came from his mouth then there's no way of erasing it

In a literal sense yes...Cotto quit...he resigned from the fight...decided not to continue...and just quit...but in boxing...the word quit has a different meaning...and in that sense...in no way did he quit

I feel Cotto will rise from the grave and make his name shine brighter than it's ever been...and he will become the name everyone seeks...people may speak of a fight between Cotto and Pac at a catch weight...or maybe I'm just delusional :conf

This was a very good post. The one thing you should know as a former fighter is that fighters with the pedigree of Cotto don't quit. This sport is a life and death sport. It looked like McClellan quit against Benn, but the untold amount of "back of the head" shots by Benn paralyzed the G-man. When a fighter has had enough, he has had enough. Cotto did his best and didn't come away with the "w". He in no way quit in my eyes. Good post though:good

whatever he does he will never find enough guts to fight a boxer as complete as cotto he just knows that doesn't have what it takes to achieve something like that. cotto would devastate moneymay in a heartbeat faster than how pacman did de la hoya

I think it would be Cotto/Margarito on the undercard of Floyd/Pacman if anything.

    :good
