Adamek got clearly outboxed in that fight, the only thing he held over Cunningham was power and the occasional clean counter shot. My card pretty much mirrored Boom_Boom's (scary, eh?).. I thought Cunningham pretty much won all the rounds except for the 3 rds he got KD, and the 11th. He pretty cleanly lost the rest.. he just walked down Cunningham and didn't throw.
not only outboxing adamek, but he was also being the ring general in there....if he wouldn't push at times with aggression, then there wouldn't of been no slugfest...adamek looked really patient to me at times, like just hoping he would catch steve..
I'm probably one of Steve's biggest fans and I had Adamek winning by 2 points. Granted I haven't seen a clean copy of the fight yet.
Some of you guys are ****ing idiots who get swayed by knockdowns. You score a fight by rounds, each round in and of itself. Learn to score. Disagree with me, fine, but don't call me an idiot for scoring the fight for Cunningham because he won most of the rounds.. I think I had it 8-4.
You may work this example as opposite for Adamek saying that if Adamek wasn't weight drained or sick he would beat Dawson, but the "if" does not actually say that Dawson was loosing that particular fight. Same here, If SC would box more or avoid KDs he would won but he did not so he simply lost. As prediction for the future, Adamek may KO Dawson in the rematch as well as Cunningham may outbox Adamek if he fight smarter the next time ... both predictions doesnt change the fact that Adamek lost to Dawson because he did not fought well for first 10 rounds and Cunningham lost to Adamek because he was on canvas to often.
So I guess two top judges haven't learned to score fights then, huh genius? I guess they've never seen 3 knock downs before and were so inspired by them, they just had to give Adamek the fight, without bothering to score it? I guess the commentators and thousands of internet scorers were off too, when they gave Adamek the fight 115-112? With the exception of a few latter rounds, Adamek made Cunningham fight his fight and was the ring general for about 75% of this fight. He was walking him down, cutting the ring off constantly neutralizing any kind of reach advantage USS had. With the exception of the 4th round he was winning all the KD rounds (round 2 and round 8 ). This fight was clearly Adamek's. Without the Kd's this fight was a draw, largely because of the potential 10-8 4th round for Cunni. I also don't understand why people want to talk about the fight without the KD's, as if to imply that they did not happen or that they were lucky punches or something of the kind. That's nonsense. You don't get your ass put on canvas 3 seperate times, spread throughout the entire fight, for no reason. They are part and parcel of this fight and cannot be ignored. Adamek should rematch Cunni at some point, but he has other attractive options as well (Enzo,Flores, G. Jones, R Jones, Dawson, Hopkins etc, etc..) and cannot be blamed for taking them. Stop trying to create controversy where none exists. Cleary you are outnumbered by most members on this board. I'm sorry Adamek made your prediction wrong, but that doesn't mean you should cling to it at all costs. It makes you look like a desperate, bitter fool.
I just rewatched the fight and tried to score it for Steve....I thought Adamek clearly won these rounds: 2nd (10-8 ) 4th (10-9) 5th (10-9) 8th (10-8) 9th (10-9) 11h (10-9) That would've given TA an 8 point margin (9 if one scored the 4th 10-8) with only 6 rounds left. If you gave Cunningham every other round, including the close ones (I thought 2 rounds could've went either way and split them up, but gave Cunningham 4 rounds clearly), you'd still wind up with Adamek by 2. Here's my pros and cons on Cunningham after watching it, since I hadn't seen too much of him before this fight: Pros: Cunningham was effective when he focused on fundamentals and avoided getting overly flashy. Solid overall skills. He showed great heart in the fight and excellent recovery skills when he was hurt, never letting it throw him off for more than a few seconds. Landed a good number of highlight-reel worthy shots, which would've spelled doom for Adamek if he didn't have the chin he's got. He was effective when he committed to the jab and threw focused shots off it. He's got a style that's easy to win rounds with when he sticks to it. Cons: He was also nearly his own worse enemy. He gave away his height and reach advantage by his stance, fighting to Adamek's level, and let himself get hit far too often by trying to be cute, either changing stances, winging wild shots, or halfheartedly leaving his left hand hanging out. He also has a fundamental flaw in his jab in which he backhands it as the fight goes on instead of committing to it. With his reach, handspeed, and build, he's literally built to have a legendary jab. He also could never figure out how to stop Adamek's sneaky right hand, which negated what should've been Steve's footspeed advantage for the majority of the fight. All in all, Cunningham impressed me but I still get the feeling there's alot of upside on the table left for him if he can apply a few minor changes to his game. Whether he can or not at 32 is the question, but I'd love to see either a rematch of this fight or him against another top dog in the division to see how he bounces back.
Hmmm...but look at the post times: 12-13-2008, 09:45 AM And from boxrec: Tue Dec 16, 2008 5:41 am It doesn't seem like you checkmated anything. Axe only voted him higher on boxrec several days after he asked you to back up your statement.
Thanks, Slick. :good To recap, here is the owning i gave Boom_Boom: Ownage #1: I asked him to back up the following statement, which he pulled out of his ass: He failed to do so. I'm still waiting. Ownage #2: I exposed his limited boxing knowledge for saying Margarito and Adamek are the exact same type of fighter, in this thread: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3043337#post3043337 It's been too easy, actually. :good
As for his pathetic swipe at me a few pages back, as Slick pointed out, I only posted my Adamek top 10 P4P pick on boxrec 3 days after Boom stated he had seen me do it. So basically, I proved him wrong, then went ahead and posted that pick anyway. Was I really lobbying to get Adamek into the top 10 though? No. In that very same boxrec thread, I posted: http://forum.boxrec.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=93804&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=25 And in this forum, I voted him in at #15. He ended up inside the top 20 P4P, soI was closer to the truth than Boom Boom's vote: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110428 Like I said, that ******* is too easy.
