Mosley is one of my favourite fighters, but he chats too much **** and lies a lot nowadays. first he sed he doesnt take drugs, then he sed he's gonna KO margarito, and now he sez he's in the best shape of his life. I mean wtf?? come one shane, just shut ur mouth

btw i think mosley is gona win a UD in this fight, i've been right many mnay times before and recently pacquiao vs oscar (oscar gets stopped) and i predicted holyfield was gonna get robbed his UD win

I think this fight could be a lot better than I initially thought it was capable of being, and I am actually starting to come up with scenarios that have Shane winning the fight or at least being very competitive in the match. At first, like most, I was simply thinking "Gosh, I hope Shane doesn't get embarrassed."

Shane is still in terrific shape, is still carrying a good punch and, because of the match-up, does not need to be as fast or have quite the reflexes he once did in order to be in the fight. I thought Shane beat Cotto (as did Tim Smith of the New York Daily News) because I felt he took enough early rounds and then he made Cotto do an Oscar vs Trinidad retreat in the final 4 or so rounds. Needless to say, Margarito does not have the precision punching or total boxing skill that Cotto possesses, and we all know that it's basically impossible to knock Shane out.

Given the qualities and abilities of each fighter, I think this bout could turn out to be much more interesting than many think it will be. I still favor Margarito because he is younger and because of his size and volume punching, but Shane definitely can beat Tony to the punch and will likely be able to stand and trade with Margo without going the route of Cotto or Golden Johnson.

    Margarito gonna finish Mosley

Naazim Richardson may come out with a strategy, but i doubt the 37 year old will be able to stay up with the pace margarito will set

That is an excellent point. That could be the real issue here, Shane just not being able to handle the rhythm of the fight Margo will bring at Shane's age. :good

Don't see how Mosley wins this. He's noticably slower than he once was, doubt at his age he'll be able to keep up with the pace Margarito brings, and he doesn't have enough power to get his respect.

What do you expect him to say? I'm not in that great of shape at 37 anymore and i'll probably get stopped for the first time in my career?

BHop got alot of **** for saying the same stuff before the the pavlik fight.

Point is if he isn't 100% confident in himself going into this fight he shouldn't be in the ring.

I do agree with Shane in being the more explosive puncher but it holds little weight. Hell I think Cotto is a more explosive puncher than Margarito. Richardson will have the perfect strategy but I don't think Shane can do it. The more I think about it I see it being a close fight but Margarito will start to dominate late in the fight.

Mosley's gonna lose by stoppage. People always use history as the unfailing predictor, but fail to consider the inevitability of the effects of the passage of time and it's effects. They say "well Mosley has never been stopped before." Well, Margarito is a special fighter of the type that Mosley hasn't faced before. He's the type of fighter that most fighters never have faced, quite frankly. His characteristics not common: unreal chin, unrelenting torrent of punches, power in almost every punch thrown, almost literally never taking a backstep, really tall and long for a welterweight. This fight is not ending in a decision. Either Mosley pulls off the impossible and stops Margarito, or he gets the **** beaten out of him, ending with either a KO, or Mosley looking like a California raisin at the end of a UD.

My main problem is that I really don't think Mosley can knock him out or hurt him like he claims. His only knockout for years before the Mayorga fight was Vargas. And he really looked average in that Mayorga fight, IMO, until the knockout came. I mean he had a LOT of trouble with Mayorga, with a lot of rounds being close in a fight that really shouldn't have been for a supposedly elite fighter. Mosley looked best in his early years when he was blowing people out, but after his first fight with ODLH, he hasn't looked stellar to me. I consider him quite overrated as a boxer because I just don't think he's actually that skilled at boxing itself. People confuse athleticism with skill. He is an excellent athlete, but as far as a skilled boxer, he's more of a warrior than that because he doesn't use enough jabs, movement, lateral movement, or head movement to be considered that. He's a great warrior and is great just because of the sheer amounts of victories he has, his dominance at lightweight, and the fact that he fights anyone at anytime. But his best days were at lightweight. If he beats Margarito, though, I'll swallow my words. I don't care either way though, as I would just like to see a great fight.

difference between hopkins and mosely is in hopkins fight before pav he fought p4p 2 calzaghe and lost a very close fight shane mosley fought ricardo mayorga and IMO was losing until he ko'd him in like the final second and looked like trash the whole fight

the second thing is pavlik wasnt battle tested for the most part especially against a genious like hopkins margo is battle tested and mosley isnt a genious anymore hes shot

last but not least mosely said he hits harder then margo so did cotto and cotto hit harder then mosley and we saw what that did for him i dont see mosley going 12 here

    This is an excellent point.

Margarito could prove to be too straight forward for the likes of Sugar Shane.

People keep bringing up the Mayorga fight but the truth is that Mayorga is just an awkward beast for anyone. Good boxers and brawlers alike have trouble with him yet the true World Class fighters beat him.

Shane will need to hold and pot shot well. Staying off the ropes will also be key.

Margarito is beatable, just check out the fights with Daniel Santos and the first 6 rounds of Margarito - Cotto.

This is a 50/50 fight, just like the Margarito - Cotto fight.

Mosley didn't look like **** agaist Mayorga, it was just a tough fight against a bigger man that fights in an awkward style.

Pavlik wasn't battle tested? What do you call 26 rounds versus Edison Miranda and Jermain Taylor? You don't fight old master fighters like Hopkins everyday.

Mosley, Cotto and Margarito are all solid but not big punchers. There is not much difference betwen the three.

Why can't Mosley win a decision by landing a few combos per round while holding Margarito on the inside and staying off the ropes?
