HUH? manny said that? Never knew that... He needs to move into wrestling ASAP - clothesliners dont take out people in the first three minutes... what is he on?
I like Calzaghe because his fights are normally exciting, a few exceptions (starie etc), he is i'd say the most skilled boxer around today and can adapt to any style. He will always risk it all in the last round, won't run away like some other fighters. He is one of the few boxers who is an excellent offensive fighter as well as defensive. I understand why you say about him fighting faded boxers like RJJ but you have to remember RJJ was the best fighter of Joe's era and Joe wanted him in his prime but Joe wasn't a big name in america so RJJ didn't bother fighting him (also they were at different weights for most of the time). One thing that annoys me about the hopkins fight (which Joe clearly won) is that people go on about him being faded when he beat tarver and Wright before and then after beat Pavlik. Hopkins was ranked no4 p4p at the time I think and is currently at about number 4 as well. If Hopkins didn't tell people he won the fight then the idiots who say he won the fight would never of said anything. I was at the fight and everyone thought Joe had won and I would guess about 80% of the Hopkins fans left before the final round. It was close but clear!
I didn't feel Dawson was particulary hot at that point after his so-so performance versus Johnson and knew that a victory over Chad would be denigrated by the moronic revisionists afterwards because of that. Now it carries alot more weight after a splendid performance versus Tarver and Adameks continued success too. Look at the amount of praise Hopkins recieved for beating Pavlik, that could've been Joe. Silly move not fighting Pavlik, a guy that is made for him IMO.
The only difference in my opinion in JC v RJJ and Pac V DLH is that Pacman is still in his prime and because of the weight it was at! With all things taken into perspective like DLH's weight drain and lack of regaining weight RJJ was probably the more difficult challenge.
True, in my mind, Pavlik would have been a better win. (And I had no doubt Calzaghe would have Lacy'd him; I picked Hops to win that one in this forum). I just remembered too that Pavlik picked Jones to stop Joe as well ! However, Bernard's victory over Pavlik gave much more credibility to Joe's victory over Bernard. No longer could it be said that Bernard was shot, if, six months later, he dismantled unbeaten and feared Pavlik. IMO, (and in the opinion of this forum, as I ran a poll) the Hopkins that Joe beat was better than the Hopkins Roy beat. Something not evident without Bernard's victory over Kelly.
LOL-No...Jermain beat BHOP more convincingly than did Joe C...not even a question..I had the Bhop-Joe fight 115-113...I had the first fight 116-112 for Jermain and the 2nd 117-110 ofr Jermain....
Iron fist Joe and this China guy are idiots..they'd suck on Joe's dick if they could...they don't realize that Joe is nothing more than a good European fighter...they need to watch more fighters and get it through their thick skulls that joe is not nearly what they think he is...but lets let them be ****ing idiots...they know about boxing a little less than my g/f in reality...****ING IDIOTS GET OFF OF ESB BECAUSE YOUR MAKING THE NEW FANS STUPID!
