Calzaghe does not belong on this list.

    Yes.

Hailed from the same town as Ted Kid Lewis and Jackie Kid Berg.

For my money he was the greatest fighter that town ever produced.

The Ring is rating Queensberry Rules fighters.... If Jack Broughton could see what Prizefighting is now, I would think he would be horrified, hell Mace would less than pleased.

British boxing is going though a golden period in the sport of boxing, because boxing is not what it once was. So The Ring is obliged to rate Lewis and Calzaghe IMO.

Broughton, Mace, Cribb and Mendoza have their place in world boxing, not British boxing, as they are bigger than that.

Calzaghe is lucky to scrape into that list at #10 IMO. And I'd have Lewis above Buchanan and also question why Turpin would be there. Beating Robinson aside does he really deserve to be rated so highly?

Lennox is way too low on there.

I think a case could be made that he's #1.

BTW, what is up with Bob Fitzsimmons that he apparently isn't "eligible" for this list?

I guess he learnt his trade in NZ...as an amatuer aswell...Moved there when he was 10 or something.

But wouldnt that make someone like Lewis ineligible aswell? :huh

Yes, they should've included both or disallowed both. Same rules should apply for all.

As much as we love to have him as our own; Fitzsimmons is as British as the Great wall of China. Yes he was born in Britain, but lived most of his youth in Australasia, and was an American citizen when he beat Corbett...

Lewis, unlike Fitzy, came back to Britain and fought as a pro under our flag.

It does when you beat the greatest fighter ever...by reports the rematch overall proved the first bout was not the fluke some may make out.

Turpin has wins prior and post the Robinson fights that add to his legacy as one of Britain's true greats.

Lewis would certainly be in the top three, where I place him.......... still not sure.

If Calzaghe is there then Hatton certainly should be - they have an equal level of competition (pretty much), a loss against Mayweather shouldn't count against him. I would put Hatton losing to Floyd above Calzaghe beating Jones - at least it was a live opponent.
