hahaha there goes your credibility you idiot you didnt see the fight but you read on CALZAGHE forums what happened and are basing your opinions off of thatatschget a clue
I was tempted to go through his posts and find some where he spoke in detail about Hopkins v Calzaghe as I know I remember this idiot doing so - but why would I bother wasting time destroying the credibility of someone who has NONE anyway?
i haven't been on the forums long enough to recall back that far but i never use punchstats as a basis for scoring fights and even in the taylor fights i think bernard landed the more effective shots jermaine was just the more aggressive fighter. I can live with those decisions because in my eyes bernard showed he was the more skilled fighter and taylor just got the decisions for aggression
he's probably scared that he'll see calzaghe being controlled and out-skilled for large portions of the fight and would rather just blank it out and pretend it never happened
Thought Bernard blew the chance of a win in this one himself. Too much taunting and posing and not enough punches, especially in the second half...he KNEW that Joe would outwork him and he'd need to get in lots of good shots to negate that, and simply didn't. And the low blow stuff worked against him. Panto season opened early, and went on so long the crowd started throwing rotten fruit.
I was there in Vegas watching this and I thought Hopkins was going to get the decision I knew it was extremely close. When I got home I watched it many times (very hard because it was a terrible fight) and on the last 3 times I had Calzaghe winning by 2 rounds with an unbiased head on and not watched it since. Calzaghe adjusted very well to win because Hopkins made it very difficult in the first 5 rounds.
in my opinion i didnt really see calzaghe take over so to speak until round 8 or 9 which is when he landed more consistently
That's the key word there mate it's all about opinions. The majority of people believe Calzaghe won the fight (including the judges) but there are many who believe Hopkins won it. Fair enough. **** all this disecting every second of the fight to count meaningful punches it's ridiculous to be honest. There is too much of that on this forum and too many people up their own ass who believe they are experts and won't entertain the idea of people having their own opinions on the matter. I bet there must be world class professional boxers who browse this forum from time to time and laugh their asses off at some of the 'experts' on here.
That seems like a good note to end this thread on. The fight has indeed split opinion, that we can all admit.
For god sake don't bring proper scoring into the thread, it will ruin the fun. And don't under any circumstances let Tranny Rafail and his fawning admirers see the "How to score a round in pro boxing" thread on the second page in general lest they stop making idiots of themselves daily.
Oh well, it would have been a good note to end this thread on, but some arseholes just can't let it go.
Its the season of good will to all men and I'll even include you in that and let that pass! Merry christmas. As its christmas, how about a civil discussion between us in the how to score a round thread? I've already posted there and I'd invite your civil comments for scrutiny.
I would welcome a civil discussion on this topic, but I don't have time just now, logging off in 5 minutes. We can come back to this, but I'll leave you with San Rafael's explanation of how he scores a round as posted earlier in this thread, as it is very similar to my own:
