Hoya can't pull the trigger-Roach. Too old, too slow.

good read. i hope this interview will minimize those pathetic excuses that always comes up when pac wins. even the great trainer angelo dundee was very decent enough not to give some lame excuses for oscar's loss and gives pacquiao the credit he deserves.

Anyone who knows boxing, knows that DLH was not the same DLH that fought Mayweather Jr. He couldn't pull the trigger, and Roach claimed that too, and actually took the fight not because of Pac's skill but because he KNEW DLH was finished. So for you guys to try to act like Pac would own DLH at any point of his career is just ludicrous. Now does that take away from Pacman's win? No.

He still jumped up from 135 and fought a MUCH larger man.
He still DESTROYED that big man, even if he was shot.
He's still showing improvement after every fight.
He is P4P #1 right now, hands down.
And he definately, takes on ANY challenge. You can't help but respect the man, he's a true marvel for boxing.

Did he beat a PRIME DLH? NO. Did he beat a SHOT DLH? YES.
Should he get credit for beating a shot DLH? YES, because it's still a remarkable win regardless.

Don't let these Pac-huggers get to you, it's all a bunch of Philipinos who never watched boxing untill Pacquiaou became big and who will overrate him because he's a national icon. Just like Trinidad and the Boricuas.

that fight was the basis of roach why he took the fight.

did you bet for pacman? probably no. did you know that pacman will beat hoya? probably no. is hindsight a wonderful thing? yes.

boxing is like the 2nd or 3rd popular sports in the philippines even before pacquiao made it big. do you have a monopoly of watching boxing?

thank you for stating what i stated.

i had a feeling it would be a lot closer then people thought, and thought Pac had a chance of dancing around DLH for 12 rounds, but i didnt expect him to take it to him like he did. regardless, hindsight has nothing to do with what i was posting. i was putting his win in perspective.

    1) if u think there would be this many phlips on this board if pac wasnt fighting, ure outright delusional.
    2) 2nd/3rd most popular sport isnt much, considering the fact that i know how HUGE basketball is in your land. and youd never see this many phlips on any NBA board for that matter.
    3) too bad im not american, so dont try to pull that monopoly **** on me.

i was simply trying to state, that a lot of the pac fans on this board are just that. PACMAN FANS. not boxing fans. now im not saying every pac fan doesnt know theyre boxing, but if u try to tell me the influx of new fans who nuthug till no end are all knowledgable fans, ure both delusional and in denial. and i was trying to tell people that they shouldnt take it TOO harsh on some of these pac fans because theyre new to the sport and will eventually, in time, learn to tone down their nut hugging as they learn. after all, boxing isnt a sport u can pick up in a year or two and really know what your talking about.

70% of Pacfans who are pinoy only votes for Pacquiao.

20% of Pacfans who are pinoy votes for Pacquiao and same time knows their boxing.

10% of Pacfans who are international who votes for Pacquiao often.

i am simply saying that since that was roach's basis, he took the hoya fight because he was expecting the same hoya from that floyd fight. your claim is that was not the same hoya from the floyd fight.

many people are already putting pac's win in perspective. and to the point of discrediting pac's win. i am just tired of people who can't give credit where credit is due especially when the actual persons invloved like nacho, dundee and hoya himself have already given credit to pacman without any excuses.

well if you are an expert in boxing, good for you. of course there would be influx of just pacman fans the same way other fighter in the past has bring boxing fans to the sport. are you familiar with the question; which fighter did you watch that makes you a boxing fan? now pacquiao is doing it to many pinoys who are not yet boxing fans but soon they will. other boxers have done the same in the past so don't underestimate these new fans.

actually he took the fight, in my eyes, because he seen floyd beat him. but DLH was still punching in that fight, it was the forbes fight, IMO, that let roach know 100% that the Pacman can take him.

i did not discredit his win, i was actually marvelling at pac for the win if u read my post. i was simply stating that some people, primarily on these forums, are acting like he beat a prime DLH, which he did not, not even close. some people even have the audacity to say he wouldve done the same to DLH in the late 90s. riight.

i think u mite have comprehension problems my friend. some people are getting really frustrated at all these nuthuggers popping out of nowhere, some to the point where they have stopped posting on forums. all i was saying is that it should be expected because they are new boxing fans and are still going through the phase where they are dead loyal to that one fighter who has caught their attention, so some of us who understand the sport, like me and u, need to take it easy on them and let them learn because as i said, boxing isnt a sport u pick up in a year or 2. no fighter made me a boxing fan, growing up at home did but i understand some people didnt have the same priveledge to grow up in a house full of boxing fans so i turn the other cheek when i see some of these huggers.

i am a pacman fan btw, granted i didnt really like him much before, but he earned my respect through his fights with Barrera/Morales/Marquez. as i said in my first post, u cant help but respect the man, even if u dont like him.

i can agree on this. roach did say that he knew pac can beat oscar because he trained him during his fight with floyd and he can already tell that pac can take on that oscar who took on floyd. but of course he might have seen the forbes fight and reinforced his initial assessment.

nobody said he beat a prime delahoya. in fact in the HBO broadcast, they announced the oscar was already past-his-prime before the fight i think to justify the fight between a light-middle and a lightweight. prime-for-prime match would be a good one but the problem is oscar was proven at 135 while pac only has one fight. so as it is, they have fought at 147 and pac beat him.

i apolgize if i jump on you immediately. i admit that some goes overboard but as it is, most pac fans that i can see here is on the defensive. they would just wait for comments that seems to be unfair to their hero and would respond in different tunes. some would discuss with you, some would just give **** comments.

basically, i can see it that many have already respect for pac. floyd fans, mexicans and other nationalities have respected him especially after the oscar fight. but still "few" critics which are mostly the loud ones, still fails to give him credit.
