I really like this kid, He is only 24 and has shown great talent... I watched that fight against Vera Live and I did think it was a bad stoppage at the time but overall it will improve Lee... It could act kind of like a wake up call for him, and maybe he will learn to not go straight back and move his head a bit more.

He has shown real knock out power from both hands and I believe that he still can make some noise in the MW division in a couple of years.

Overall , I think he is a fun fighter to watch... and I really hope his potential is much higher than what we have now. We'll just have to wait and see

I know Steward was talking him up, and the Vera fight was a great learning experience. He had never fought anyone that could make it a dog fight, and by making Lee uncomfortable from the outset he broke him down.

The kid does have great boxing fundamentals and carries power in both hands. He definitely has a future.

The ref must not have liked the fact that Andy Lee was actually getting punched .... you know its not like that is supposed to happen in boxing.

He was fading and getting nailed with just about everything Vera was throwing.

Thats the best thing that could have happened to him because he can always dispute that loss and if the fight had continued he would have just taken a beating that even Steward couldnt put a spin on.

I like the kid...definite titlist material...but I cringed when Manny was talking him up..reminded me of the stupid hype surrounding Bojado..I knew Andy was doomed as soon as Steward starting saying stuff like Lee will be a future HOF and I think he even said ATG. That **** for a young fighter is poison, you cant be telling them that, no matter who it is it will inflate their ego and that can just about never be a good thing.

In summary...good fighter, good skills, good physical attributes..I dont see him being a future undisputed champ or anything but he probably will bag a title some day with the right management.

No kidding. Refs halt fights these days because some actual combat is breaking out. Wasn't like that in the old days. They let fights go to their natural conclusion.

The Vera fight's the only one I've seen, and I was expecting a lot more from Lee. Once Vera started fighting back Lee looked totally lost in body and mind. Some guys just cave under pressure and others thrive, hopefully Lee can learn to thrive.

Terrible stoppage against Vera, but irregardless Andy was going to lose that fight very very soon. He wasn't just declining in that fight, he fell off the ****ing cliff.

I still like the kid though, tough guy, just didn't know what to do against a raw guy who can take a punch like a mother****er and still fight back.

Vera's best asset is that granite assed chin and his toughness.. otherwise he sucks.

Vera was hand picked to make Andy look good on TV. Lee got seriously rattled when Vera started walking through his shots and hitting him at will. Vera has very little skill, but he's a big tough kid that Andy Lee seriously underestimated. What if that fight had not happened? Lee may have ended up in the ring with Pavlik last September, and that would have been disastrous.

At this point I think they need to put Andy in with a few good gatekeeper types, and then start stepping him up. Let's see how he does against an Elvin Ayala level fighter. Lee and that McGirt kid is probaly a good fight. Andy probably has a good carreer ahead of him, but if he stays at 160 I think he's gonna have to wait for Pavlik and Abraham to move up before he makes a big play.

The ref was looking for Lee to take one more shot to stop that fight. Someone at the fight said they could see Lee's eyes roll up. It was a good stoppage. I think Lee, at this point anyhow, is the classic example of boxer, not fighter. That is OK in the amature level, not the pro. Did he learn that lesson?

I always go back to Barrera's first fight with Junior Jones. If people are making a case to discredit Barrera's career, the first thing they will say is, "well, he lost to Junior Jones twice, once by knockout". That knockout was the greatest thing that ever happened to Barrera. It made him rethink his career, and he ultimately changed his style so that he would not only improve himself as a fighter dramatically, but also extend his career significantly.

Andy Lee is a terrific young fighter, and the manor in which he lost to Vera is not as devastating as a Barrera/Jones I or a Cotto/Margarito, but it'll all depends on whether he learns from it or not. He needs to pick his punches, and stay out of range, he has a great advantage which height and reach over quite a few Middleweights. He has the power, he just needs to avoid getting over eager. I think he is a potential future world champ.
