no becuase he has never ben koed so far and is a world class fighter so in reality he doesn't have a glass jaw. Audley harrison has a glass jaw david haye has an average jaw.
A guy like Terry Norris would not be able to compete at such a high level, if chin was as important as you make out. It is possible to work around a glass jaw.
I don't disagree that it's possible, and Norris is a good case in point. But it requires a great degree of skills, and development of defensively ability, to protect against this serious weakness. Most fighters are not able to do this. For most fighters, a glass jaw is a career-breaker. So far, has has been able to get by at the cruiser level - although not without hitting the canvas several times and getting stopped once. My point on Haye is simply this. If his chin was shaky at CW, it is likely to be glass at HW. And when it is shown to be glass, at HEAVYWEIGHT, it would be nice to see some of those who suggest otherwise actually admit they were wrong.
None of them will admit it. They'll just rant on about how that particular punch would have KOed any heavyweight or something to that effect. Haye himself stated during an interview that if he gets hit flush by Vitali it would be gameover. It's pretty clear that Haye has an OFF Switch built into his chin and you just need to tap it hard enough to get it to flip to the OFF position. Even now there are people that still think that guys like Harrison, Khan and Litzau have decent chins. After Haye gets sparked Berto is the next to go on the chincheck hitlist.
His jaw must be pretty good for him to make it this far in his career. I don't by the "glass jaw" hype.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Man, I can't wait til Haye's chin gets shattered. These nuthuggers are gonna have to eat some serious crow.:yep
I think Haye uses his speed well, he could be the fastest HW on his feet and with his reflexes, he should not get tagged if he can stay focused and maintain the distance and counter, he seems pretty confident, it's hard to discount his ability to punch and not get punched, nwith bigger slower guys he should do well, the proof is in the pudding.
I dont think he has a bad chin. His one pro loss was because he burnt himself out, and his amatuer loss in the world championships to odlanier solis was also because he burnt himself out. he went down to mormeck but that really looked weight related as his legs went but his head was clear. im not sayin he cant get knocked out, anyone can, but i also believe that just one decent shot will knock him out as thats certainly not the case. as regards to haye sayin he's 'chinny' i truly believe that to be hype building and trying to get in his opponents head and maybe make them commit a bit more for that big punch, which of course plays right into haye's style.
At least he admits to a bad chin. He will get a title but now he is expected to fight either half decent to world class HW opposition- I expect Haye to get KOd within 3 fights
