he clearly lost to Valuev in his last fight hopefully retired otherwise Wlad may give him a shot at his title
Good question. Looked good against Guinn. Looked so good against Brewster. DId what he had to do against Briggs...except for the last 30 secs. Looked like **** against Valuev. End of it. I tought we had a new super star when he beat Brewster..Maybe the fight took too much of him?
I think it did. The Brewster fight was grueling and downright brutal. Sergei looked like a champ that night. None of the attack he displayed that night was evident against Briggs, although he was winning the fight. If you take the toll of the Brewster fight, the psychological aspects of the bad KO loss to Briggs, and then being put back in with someone like Valuev after more than a year off and out of shape and getting dominated, you probably get a declined fighter. It would have been smarter to take a tune up fight or two before Valuev. It's not completely unheard of for a boxer to make a comeback in similar circumstances, but it's tough. One example would be Maskaev. He was knocked out by Johnson, put right back in against Whitaker and brutally ko'd, everybody wrote him off. He came back, was stopped again by Sanders, but then built his way back against lesser opposition and won a world title. Sergei is young, maybe we'll see him back in the next year at the proper weight and in a few easy fights before making another run.
The Belarus forest, trying to find easier prey. He may be shot, but in belarus, those dollars still are sustenant
Hes done stick a fork in him. He came in out of shape vs Valuev with his ***** tits, he didnt even win a freakin round vs Valuev either..... And the fact that he takes so much time off between fights doesn't help him either.
Don King is his promoter, right!!! Yep! He is a decent fighter, but he has to show his skills in the ring.Otherwise,he will be forgotten very soon.
He looked good against Brewster (which is the only fight my friends watched that they liked). I remember people going crazy on here when he won. People thought he could beat Wlad off of 1 performance. I think he will still fight, but I think he is more of a gatekeeper now. I wonder if he still has that greasy scumbag as a manager still?
his reputation is based on that brewster fight, where she showed serious guts (but not that much boxing ability). besides guinn and ahunyana there aren't any decent names on his resume. and he was ko'd by maurice harris. to picture how shot he is right now - he didn't really win one round vs. valuev, who is awful lately. that puts a stamp on it - he is finished, he will never bring anything to the world stage again...
