Cotto quit. End of discussion. Who cares what someone else did or did not do. It will be easier for Cotto to quit again since he already did it once.

The posters who said Cotto quit, I lost respect for your posts lol. I wrote your names down, and will remember that you've never taken punches for 10 rounds in your ***** ass lives lol... Punks jump up to get beat down. You clowns would've quit in the first round just like you quit in the streets when you had a fight and got your ass kicked! Cowards!!! lol

he quit but Im not saying its a bad choice or he's a *****.

But if he does quit again, you gotta ask yourself, why box if you just quit when it gets tough?

I respect his choice for quiting.

Yep.Its scandalous to tar him with that after what he went through.
He 'quit' in the sense that he has a wife and children and didnt want to risk their father/husband being killed or irreperably damaged.
We are not talking Bruce Seldon here.

He doesn't need to. Cotto left it in the ring. He, like any observer who doesn't have a personal stake in it, or an affinity toward one of the participants, saw what happened.

i wouldnt call him a quitter, i wouldnt call a boxer, at that level a quitter.. the simple fact is, that you dont get to that level, by being a quitter..

They saw someone take a heavy beating and didn't have anything left...

My entire family (none of them boxing fans) never mentioned the words "Cotto quit"...at all...and none of them knew how big of a Cotto fan I was.

They all just said it was a great fight and Margarito was probably on steroids because of all the shots he was taking (again...not boxing fans and were amazed by the shots he was taking and trying to rantionalize the idea of walking through those shots)

We've already gotten into the text book definition of quitting...so there's no need to get into that discussion again

But quitting in boxing is far different than quitting in anything else in life...Cotto didn't quit.

Exactly...you also can't have a quitter mentality when you're at that level either. So I wouldn't say they're quitters in the least

You are speaking philosophy and generalities...although I don't see it as a move that compromised the totality of his character in the people's eyes, on that particular evening he quit.
