Interesting points, but as you say here; the Hatton fight promises to be a much better contest. Mayweather is likely to beat Pacquiao. How can we hope to be pleased with that?

All we can hope for in that case is a transcendent kind of performance to make it worth the while, as Pac would be coming in the clear underdog. If I were in his camps shoes, I don't know what I'd do, honestly....on one hand, you've got the Hatton fight which is more winnable and a superfight that many would expect Pac to win, but on the other hand the Floyd fight is tougher to win even though he might not take as much punishment, and will likely pay less (still a significant payday though). It's a gutsy (and some would say stupid) move to push for that because the only thing Mayweather offers more is a tougher night's work and more glory if he does well.

Also, the main reasons Manny's got the bargaining power to grab the PBF fight he does now is that he's P4P #1 and he beat up Oscar worse than Floyd did. I'm worried that if he doesn't outdo what Floyd did against Hatton, Pac-Floyd loses some luster and possibly won't happen. And since that fight would happen at 140, it's going to be a damn hard feat to stop Hatton.

I look at it as a win/win from a fan's standpoint, because I'd love to see him face both guys. I just don't know if Floyd would be waiting at the end of the Hatton fight, so if he's ever going to fight both, he might have no choice but to take the Mayweather fight first.

good read, makes a lot of sense, though i still want hatton to be pacs first too confident pac will dominate hatton, it will be easier to lure fmj if he beats hatton convincingly.

i think he should fight hatton first then that would give an idea if facing pbf is a wise move.

Do you think FMJ will have the guts to come out of his shell to fight Pacman if indeed that Manny can totally dominate Hatton better than what Mayweather had done in the past? That will be 2 times (2X) that Manny would have outperformed Mayweather. Won't such a scenario just make Floyed continue his hibernation, waiting for some easier prey?...

Pac-Hatton should be first as a Pac win will add more intrigue and demand for a PBF fight. It will be a better and more legitimate fight than if Pac fights Mayweather first.

Pac fights Hatton, meanwhile Floyd should take a tuneup so that the fight is 100% legit(i.e no excuses from whoever loses).

no this is wrong, the hatton fight will be there whether he loses or wins against PBF... if he loses its no harm no foul and 2 guys that lost to Floyd sqaure off in the UK. However if he loses to Hatton, he also loses the chance at a Floyd fight.

By fighting PBF first he is 100 percent guaranteed two mega fights in 2009
