Basically this thread proves that to MMA nuthuggers, MMA fighters are unbeatable BJ penn vs God? Bj penn by submission mate.
No, it shows that one of the worlds best MMA fighters is going to easily beat the **** out of somebody in an mma match who has never done MMA, has extremely limited grappling experience, and has never really competed in anything at a high level. What makes you think Bruce Le could win the fight? Do you think Bruce Le could beat Manny Pacquiao in a boxing match? It's the same question. Yes, BJ Penn would beat god, due to the fact that BJ Penn exists.
Bruce Lee is one of the best martial artists ever, his speed and power were incredible, Bj Penn is just another MMA guy, nothing special. Lee is a Legend, Penn is a nobody
its impossible to say who would win between Bruce Lee & BJ Penn, we havent seen Bruce fight real fights vs elite MMAtists before. Id pay a lot to see it tho.
The original post is a hypothetical and so any answer is conjecture and not a testable reality, but what your failing to understand is Bruce Lee discarded thousands of years of tradition and said 90% of martial arts is "Fancy Jazz" he was provably the first MMA fighter, if you actual care to discover the truth about MMA you would know his theories, books and writings clearly indicate all aspects of fighting, BJ Penn has only recently learned the value of a good jab, BJ Penn has no great kicking ability, BJ Penn has a very powerful JJ but its not world beating, BJ Penn has invented nothing, he is only a student of MMA, not a master or Founder, now go find out how many system Bruce Lee understood and trained in he had thousands of books on ancient martial arts from which he created his own system called JKD which he called a boat, he invented new equipment to train body parts nobody cared about or even knew about. BJ Penn on the other hand has always had a gut and looks soft even at 155, he has not perfected his body or his mind and it shows, the simple facts are Bruce Lee was the most dedicated scholar and master of martial arts, there is no modern day equivalent to Bruce because people believe in systems again, what he work to do away with was brought back as soon as he died, when there is no light darkness falls...........
Good objective post. Dana White had mentioned this about Bruce that he is the father of MMA. Stay away from traditions, take the good throw away what doesnt work. Thats just sacrilege in the martial Arts world and Bruce was already letting this known in the 60's. Even the Gracies were preaching just JJ at the time. He was a great athlete (no one can dispute that) and tremendous teacher and lerner at the same time. Joe Lewis even mentioned that he was the fastest guy hes ever seen. And interestingly enough was really getting into Muy Thai because Bruce felt that it has the best set of striking skills. This was I believe 1970. He was just so ahead of his time. BJ Penn is again my favorite fighter (Him and Pacquaio and now Nover), but prime for prime if both trained, you just cant count Bruce out. All great Martial Artist will tell you whether in Sport or War. Thats intelligence is 80% of being a successful MArtial Artist, Soldier etc whatever. His book the Tao of JKD, is quite possibly the best book on non military Martial Arts
BJ Penn beats the brakes off of Bruce Lee anyway that he wants to... Standing, grappling, sleeping, whatever. Bruce is an actor guys, get over it. Do you think that he clears 10 foot fences in a single bound as well? He was very well educated about Martial Arts... but that doesn't make him the baddest man in history.
No, its not. It is a bunch of stolen cliche philosophy that he doesn't source or credit; and a bunch of kung fu striking with some incredibly basic grappling. Rutten, Couture, Penn, and Renzo have all written much better books.
I can't speak to Rutten's or Couture's, but Renzo's book is absolutely fantastic. It is the best book on real fighting that I have ever read.
Also, I still say Jean Claude Van Damme could beat any of them. He only has one loss in his karate career (by DECISION at that, he probably would have won if the fight continued.) and he won 18 of his other fights by stoppage. In the movies Kickboxer and Bloodsport, he clearly demonstrates that he has absolutely lethal jumping spin kicks that he can land AT WILL. Also, Paul Michael Levesque could probably beat Fedor. I've seen him land side kicks on guys that KO them in one shot. Also, he's picked up dudes that weigh like, 400 lbs and slammed them into unconciousness. He has a legit grappling background, and many videos to prove his prowess.
Your using a Straw man, to say he cleared a ten foot fence when in reality no human can clear more than 8 foot is just you being facetious and lowering the tone of this debate. Are you being serious?.?.?! MMA is not a platform for the worlds best Ju Jitsu players, BJ Penn would quickly admit he is not the best in the world at JJ, he is not even in the top 20 even in his weight class.
