Lacy seems like he's lost what he once had, he did worse than even marginal Calzaghe opponents have done in that fight. And it's sad to see one fight kill one young man's career, shoulder problems probably did him in too.

Guys, it wasn't the Calzaghe beating that made Lacy the way that he is. It was the full thickness tear in his left rotator cuff that did it. Have you seen him throw a decent left hook since the 3rd round of the Tsypko fight? I am being really honest when I say that I have never seen Lacy look as good as he did in the first two rounds of that fight. He was throwing great straight crisp punches, and his hook was still great. Once he tore his shoulder that bad... he has never been the same. It's sad really... because not only will his career never be the same, but also he is looked at as an overhyped, overrated fighter, when he really wasn't. He was a ****in' beast.

I'm sure he'd find a way to show that Lacy actually outlanded Joe in that fight.:nut

Some people dont want this explanation, but it is the simple truth.

He was just as good against Taylor as he was against Calzaghe and if hte had fought Taylor on that day he fought Calzaghe, the fight would have been like it was now when he fought Taylor - and many would have been as schocked as they were with the Calzaghe fight.

Pssshhht, hell no! Jeff at his best was a flawed fighter, yes, but he was incredibly explosive and the version that faced Taylor a few weeks back was no where near that same fighter. Hell, Taylor wasn't even in prime condition himself.

If you honestly think that the Lacy that fought Taylor was the same Lacy that fought Joe Cal then you need to watch a few tapes and reeducate yourself on the guy because that's NOT the same Jeff Lacy who was knocking out contenders left and right on the way up.

Exactly, the problem was he was knocking out contenders, not world champions so when he apparently stepped up his level of opposition he got found out so to wrap this one up he was good but not as good as the media hyped him upto be because when he fought Robin Reid he looked so slow. He telegraphs every punch, he was just an overated overhyped american fighter, america has a habit of overhyping fighters, you only have to look at Chris Arreola, Klitschko would take his heart with that Jab, Arreola is not fit or fast enough to handle Klitschko, he would look good for about 4 rounds and then gas out...I like Chris but hes got no chance, and the same goes for David Haye, he just about survived against Carl Thompson, nothings changed so dont get drawn into all this stupid hype talk. Lacy isn't a shot fighter, he was just overrated to start with.

widowmaker has the answer to what lacy is now and what he once was.

lacy left hook lacy is simply been reduced to a one armed fighter.

he cannot throw his left hook at all with power.

he simply cannot throw it post typsko as he could prior to that.

and lacy as a right handed only fighter cannot get it done.

watch the mendoza/manfredo/taylor fights and except when tied up on the inside and scrapping with his left it is right hands only, and they are telegraphed , because opponents read that is the only punch they have to look out for.

    i dont believe its physical

i think its a mental thing with him.

he thought he could ko anyone - he found out that not to be true, now he doesnt believe in his power, and he knows he cant box well. so he is shot.

It was really the injury that did it for him.

The beating he got only confirmed how limited he was, and then when got injured, he was rendered useless, especially for someone who leans more on physical power than anything else.

His last few fighst after the injury are joke.

what happened was his step up fight was the worst style matchup u could ever imagine for him...and if his team studied the tapes they would see JC was too fast and slick for him....I can tell u my friends thought i was crazy when I bet 200 on JC as a favorite...not because lacy sucked but becAUSE JC can box stiff guys who have to sit on their punches...this could be all different if he fights mandos til a big fight comes along...so give him credit just like most of u guys call people duckers for not ducking calzaghe....

    u duck ur a *****
u fight the best ur a shot overrated bum

    something has to give?
