What gift decisions did De La Hoya receive?

Felix Strum, obvious.

 

The only true gift I think he got was against Sturm

A lot of people argue his fight with John John Molina to be controversial. I think DLH was robbed more than given gifts. I think he was robbed in his fight with Trinidad and Mosley II. Both fights can affect some of his Legacy.

 

Against Whitaker, Sturm, and even Ike Quartey(although it was a very close fight that could go either way)

 

One- Sturm.

I believe Oscar won the Quartey, Whitaker, Trinidad fights and the second Mosley fight.

Sturm is the only clear cut one for me.

The others are debatable and Ive heard decent arguements for either those fights going either way...Though I probably felt Pea deserved the nod, it was a hard fight to score at times, overall he may have nudged it but the way boxing is scored where each round is basically a new fight..it was really close in the end.

 

I agree with most in that Sturm is the obvious choice. His other supposed gifts are arguable. But in hindsight he will be remembered for the terrible robberies against him which were fights that outweigh his "gifts" in terms of legacy importance.

 

Sturm was a big time theft, but the others are disputable really

 

How do the "robberies" he got outweigh the "gifts"? You guys say he got robbed against Mosley 2 and Trinidad. Well fine, but many people thought he got gifts in the Pea, Quartey and especially the Felix Sturm fight. So basically he is pretty even then.

 

Imo DLH lost to Quartey and Sturm.

......also, imo I dont feel DLH was robbed in any of his fights.

 

The split decision against Mayweather was a gift.
