it may have been 3 years ago but not many in the top 10 have beat a #3 p4p fighter.

so after a loss to the pfp #1 he had a fight against lazcano, but look at who pavlik and cotto are fighting in there comebacks. he then fought malignaggi, whatever you think of him, malignaggi was #2 in hattons division and hatton beat him more clearly than cotto did. and now he going to fight manny.

well i would like to see your top 10, because how many of those top 10 fighters beat the "pacquiaos, Marquez's and the Mayweather's of this world to be considered in the top ten"

Depends if he wins on points or stops pacman.
If he wins on point he will be top 5,
If he stops pacman which I believe he will, he will be top 3 along with calzaghe and marquez.

A clear win (stoppage/unarguable points win) puts him number one.

The parallel I would draw would be Hopkins being seen as P4P number one after beating number three P4P Trinidad.

so you say hatton needs to fight the "pacquiaos, Marquez's and the Mayweather's of this world to be considered in the top ten"

so what fighters on that list have fought, let alone beat fighters on the level of pac, pbf and marquez, the same level of fighter that you say hatton needs to fight to break into the top ten? and hatton has already beat an elite fighter in koysta.

OK i think may have been stretching it with my high expectations for Hatton as when i really looked at the top ten only Pacquiao, Calzaghe and Margarito hold wins over top ten fighters this year, So Roly you got me.

Still have Hatton just outside the top ten though.

Marquez is and will still be above Calzaghe, in that case. Hatton to #6 (size advantage over Manny).

The nature of the win would have bearing. True.
