your favorite fights that involved ali?

Do you prefer to watch the fights where he showed and exhibited pure boxing skill, speed, razor slazing jabs, fast combinations like ali v williams and clay v liston 1.

    or the wars against frazier

or the tactically perfect fights e.g foreman etc

your views please with a little explaination

    I'll go first:
ali frazier 3- awesome action, great clash of styles, fought in terrible heat and humidity, both fighters had good periods in the fight etc

    and

ali v cleveland williams- ali looked brilliant, sweet science of hit and dont be hit was in evidence, hardly took and punch all fight looked scarily fast, threw great combinations, the ali shuffle etc etc

I went for Quarry II. Just such a complete perfomance from Ali. Far from as exciting as FOTC, Manilla, Zaire, of course.

When the Foreman fight is watched on a monthly basis, its clear there was no real game plan. Just a second option. R-A-D. ...I doubt Ali even thought this would be a serious option anyway. Having felt Foremans assault in the first 2 1/2 rounds.. mostly agressive, uncontroled, poorly thought out, immature, RELENTLESS, and un-accustommed assault, Foreman was soon to become a victom of his own inexperience.

The Thrilla remains, IMO, the single most, hardest battle of any 2 H/Ws in the history of the game. Both men remain to be legends. The epic fight lasted far longer than it should have/ or would by any standards of the last 20 years. ..... or 50 years before. I doubt any guys went through the same hell as Ali and Frazier on the same night... any H/Ws.. ever.

I've just watched the Thrilla and I think it is way over hyped. I find Ali's fights pretty boring in general.

Yep. I often think that if you want to introduce someone to boxing then avoid Ali's fights because people expect amazing things but often the are dull.
