Im hoping Cleverely wins, with all due respect to Woods he must be the most average world champion ive ever seen along with Scott Harrison, i usually get fully behind our champions but I never want to see Woods fight again
Even an average Woods performance against Cleverly at the early stages of his career would mean a fairly routine win for the Sheffield man. Cleverly looks good throwing flash combos against journeyman opposition, or out of shape and out of sorts Oakey but he hasn't fought anyone anywhere close to Woods standard.
So one fight maketh the man? You know better than that. Taking your statement at face value you would then have to say that Cleverly is a complete wrecking machine given the way that he disposed of his opposition last time out :-(
One fight when you are mid 30's and you actually do not throw any punches makes you seriously questionable. He looked like a shot fighter that can't pull the trigger anymore. And I'm usually adverse to using that term, but Woods was showing too many of the signs. Let's hope he's not.
Please.................... The Commonwealth is little better than an area title now. Merely a vehicle for a promoter to have two decent fighters at the same weight without having to match them against each other. I wouldn't wipe my ass with it personally. The Commonwealth don't exist anymore....... pity.
Even though Woods looked horrible against Tarver, it's said that he wasn't well for that fight. I know plenty of boxers do make excuses, but with Woods there's probably some truth in it. He was looking to be in good form, coming off two impressive wins and then he had nothing. Aside from that, Woods is such an honest fighter, I can't imagine him lying to cover the loss. We'll know whether it was true, after his next fight. If he beats Muriqi like he's capable of doing, then there was probably some truth in it. If not, then he's finished as an elite fighter.
