Is it just me or is Holyfield 2008 better than Holyfield 2003 ?

When i watch his fights vs. Byrd, Toney and Donald he looked plain awful and shot there, but in his last fights you can say he competes excellent for someone with his age. A few years ago the boards were full of "he should retire" comments, now i dont hear that too much. Off course, he had injuries with his shoulders, but overall nobody bought this excuse and just said he was old and shot. What surprised me at most, was his footwork. He looked flat footed and slow 2003 and against Valuev he was able to move properly for 12 rounds.
If he improves again in the next 5 years the way he improved/recovered (or whatever) the last 5 years, you can expect a prime Holy performance:yep Go Holy, be the first man to hold a worldtitle being 50 years old ! Holy is just a good character, i rooted for him to get the decision, but well....we all know the controvery about the outcome. Somehow you have to admire him for doing "his thing".

Maybe the whole shoulder thing was true.
That being said he fought a 7 foot tall 310 lb brick wall who didn't use his single known punch called the jab.

I think it was something like the steroids were bought and sent to his address but under a fake name.

Holy moved well, in comparison, but his punch output was practically flatlined compared to where it was against even Byrd, Toney and Donald.

Perhaps it was a stylistic choice, but then perhaps if he'd let his hands go as much as he did against Toney in particular he wouldn't have been able to maintain his movement.

Valuev's terrible performance shouldn't smokescreen that it wasn't a great display for Holyfield either. I really hope he doesn't get that false impression either, because false courage could make a man do unwise things.

You are mixing up Evander Holyfield with Evan Fields, a guy who lives at the same address.

Federal agents have launched a major investigation into the internet sale of steroids and human growth hormone.

Reports alleging that he was an online customer forced ex-world heavyweight champion Holyfield to say: "I do not use and have never used steroids."

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...2322769/Evander-Holyfields-endless-quest.html

He met his father, Isom Coley, a lumberjack, for the first time when he was 21. "I completely forgave him. You find being a man in life sometimes exposes you to choices. If there is conflict between two adults, it really doesn't have much to do with the kids. That's how it was with my dad." Interestingly, this forgiveness was even extended to Coley after he appeared to embroil his champion son in a murky drugs controversy. No action was taken, no proof was incontrovertible, but it did appear that body-building drugs, including testosterone, were traced from a pharmacy to Holyfield's address. In the event, Holyfield said that the drugs were bought as medication for his father, who has since died. "I'm a big name. It made a big story. But it didn't catch fire. It didn't hurt anyone.

"The fact of the matter is I'm one of the most drug-tested athletes in the world. I'm a very physical person but you have seen a very consistent body structure in me over the years. I've never been the biggest guy, never been the smallest guy. How many times have you seen my weight balloon up by 30?lb? It is sad these allegations were made."
