Putting Cotto ahead of Clottey simply because he's more exciting is even more ridiculous. Cotto lost his last fight from a stoppage. Clottey has won his last fights, both by stoppage. And he made a much better showing for himself against Margo than Cotto did. No comparison. Clottey > Cotto. I don't care how much everyone adores the man. He got beat the **** down by a man who Clottey hung in there very closely with.
Fans rate Williams at #1 because he beat Margarito head to head. And because fans realize that he will never get the chance to beat Cotto because of Arum.

I'm a little confused. You are contradicting yourself. Did Margarito show some wear after the 6th round or does he have superb conditioning? You cannot wear in the 6th round if you have a superb conditioning and you can't have a superb conditioning if you wear in round 6.

:huh Who does that? Cotto's ranking is based on beating Quintana, Mosley, and Judah. It has nothing to do what so ever with "excitement." True. But that doesn't eclipse his previous accomplishments. Clottey hasn't had a legitimate stoppage since he fought Chris Shaka Henry in 2004. He won the Judah fight by technical decision, and the Cruz "TKO" was one of the most premature stoppages in recent memory. Cotto and Clottey both made Margarito look ordinary early in their respective bouts. Difference between the two, Clottey went into a shell after round four. Cotto fought fire with fire for as long as he could. Cotto eventually wilted under the pressure and ended up being stopped. Clottey went into survival mode, offering up little resistance down the stretch and made it to the final bell. Regardless, it's an L on both of their records. And as we all should know by now, triangular theories mean very little in Boxing. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone else who would seriously put Clottey ahead of Cotto in their welterweight rankings.
Very well said Maxx, especially the last paragraph. What people have to realize that Clottey stop putting up a fight after round 4 and decided to play defense for the rest of the fight where as Cotto continued to throw punches, even when the pressure was getting to him, if Cotto would have decided to stop throwing punches and just play defense after round 4 he would have made it to the final bell also.

I mena yeah he's slow and has a poor defense, but it's obvious he's a great inside fighter, who wrecks to the body real well, has undeniable stamina and workrate, and knows how to throw every punch in the book.. so the man is not without his skills and talent. The guy can fight, you can't deny that... and IMO the only men out there at welter that stand a chance at beating him are Williams, Mayweather, and possibly Clottey.. and in a division as packed as welterweight that's really saying something when only 3 men even have a chance at beating you.
