Well it has been done to death...but thats ok..If people dont want to discuss it they dont have to.

The way I saw that fight is Hopkins often made it a hard one to score but more often made it easy with his ultra low output.

I had it 115-112 for Joe...I have only watched it twice and I will keep it that way because the fight was quite bad.
Overall Hopkins did look the better boxer, he made Joe look silly at times but Joe made Hopkins look old by just continually working.
I just cant score that one for Nard....Though I must say it was the kind of fight that warrants a rematch I feel, Joe didnt win it by a wide margin and clearly there is enough people around who thought Hopkins won it...I dont really care if it happens though because it will be another sloppy snoozefest I imagine.

I scored it close for BHop, but I agree with a lot of what you said. It's hard to give rounds to a guy who isn't doing anything, and it is equally hard to give rounds to a guy who doesn't land anything meaningful.

I had it 8-4 for Joe with hopkins scoring a Knock down which is basicly 115-112. It was an easy fight to score and cannot see how anyone had bernard winning that fight. The Jermain Taylor vs BHop fights were hard to score but this one wasn't. Round for round Calzaghe won easy.

I'll just point out that bernard wasn't landing anything and wasn't throwing. I think bernard really underestimated Joe and Joe underestimated Bernards Defense. If bernard would have faught Joe the same way he faught Kelly pavlik then bernard would have took a 12 round beating. That handspeed of Calzaghe kept bernard in a shell and when bernard swung back he could hardly hit joe just like Joe could hardly hit him.

I scored it to Clazaghe by three rounds. I really cannot grasp how anyone can say Hopkins won that fight......he threw nothing after the first few rounds.

I thought Hopkins won the fight. I had him winning six rounds and one round even, plus the two point round. I think if you made a video of the 30 best punches landed in the fight, about 22-24 of them would have been Hopkins'.

I think it's just a philosophical thing. Do you score clean, effective punching, or do you score aggression. Another example would be the Floyd-Hatton, and De La Hoya fights. A lot of people had those fights close, but I much preferred the clean punching of Mayweather. Those fights were much easier to score in my opinion than Hopkins-Calzaghe, but had a similar pattern.

Anyway, the judges went one way and that's how it goes. I'd rather see Hopkins fight Adamek than rematch Calzaghe, who doesn't seem to want to fight anymore and should just officially quit if that's the case.

But those '22-24' were the only punches hew threw during 12 rounds of championship boxing. The rest of the time was spent faking injury or hugging the **** out of Calzaghe. Not even a close call.

It could have gone either way but I'd give it to Joe.

This fight should have been rematched by now though, imo, instead of the Jones fight.

I will co-sign this..I feel the same way..I dont think it would have been bad for it to have been a draw, or with either guy winning. Giampas 116-111 for Joe was abit of a reach

50/50 you got to be kidding me - and you guys think Germany is corrupt! ... no way in hell Hopkins won that fight! ... after round 3 he isn't in the fight - only round 10 I think when he took his long break.

Hopkins lost fair and square - get over it will you!

In the Holyfield-Valuev fight I bet Holyfield only landed say 24 punches, but I felt that was enough against the giant who only landed, let's say, 12.

Now the difference in this fight was that Calzaghe threw lots of punches, but I have a hard time crediting punches that don't land cleanly or with force.

As for Hopkins hugging, I guess you could make some sort of moral judgement and say thats bad form. Another person could also say it's bad form of Calzaghe not to punch with his knuckles and not give him credit for that. It's a matter of perspective I suppose.

As for Hopkins faking the low blows, I agree he probably took more time than he strictly had to, but the punch in question seemed to me to hit where a normal person's groin is. Even if you disagree, I don't think that should be refenced in the scoring.

I thought hopkins won two rounds, that is all,,,,,,he didn't get a reach around i am not sure if that counts for a extra round,,,,if so then he won 3 rounds,,,,,
