My point is just that people here often calls Germany corrupt (latest example Valuev-Holifield) - the same people who now claims Hopkins actually won against Calzaghe - despite Calzaghe dominating rounds 3-12. Calzaghe clearly won the fight - making Hopkins look his age - simple as that - only controvercy in that fight was the judge scoring it for Hopkins...
Take a look at the compustats for the fight... While compubox-stats isn't the same as the truth it does give some indication of the fight - according to compubox Calzaghe outlanded Hopkins 2 to 1!
Yup. I only wish Hopkins hadn't ducked Calzaghe in 2002, a fight between these two in their primes would have been a bit more easier on the eye I daresay. For now, the Hopkins humpers should stop crying and face up to the fact that on that night, he was beaten by the better man. Hampered by a terrible referee and away from home, Calzaghe recovered from an early knockdown to land more punches on Bernard Hopkins than anyone else has in history. He also landed more cleanly against the defensive master than the haters would have you believe. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=m9SfWjk00cs
Normally I would check your previous posts to find it but because you post 1000 times a day I wont bother.
Compubox is barely significant at the best of times. In a fight like this where Calzaghe is throwing 300 slaps a minute and three boffins at ringside are trying to keep track by pushing a little green button every time they think a punch landed it means less than nothing. In fact, it's a good indication of how illusory Joe's 'win' is. If we go back and reexamine all those punches and find that most of them, in actuality, didn't land, does Joe still get the win? The reason lemmings like you believe Calzaghe 'dominated' is you think Joe was landing with all that flailing about. What would you say if it was proved that he mostly wasnt? Would you revise your scoring? Consider also that compubox has little room for differentiating clean punches from sloppy punches, glances, etc.
Yeah, but you can understand why Hopkins would have ducked him. I mean Joe was pretty scary back then. According to who? compubox? Slappy's air beating style is tailor made to exploit the massive flaws and inaccuracies in compubox. lofl lof lofl. 60 % of the punches inthat Joe HIGHLIGHTS REEL did not land. That in itself says it all.
I assure you I am not lying. I did score the bout for Hopkins, having given him I believe the first four, the 7th, and the 10th, I believe. I did not make a big deal about my scorecard in the immediate aftermath of the fight because I didn't want to take away from what to me, was Calzaghe's most impressive performance EVER. He won me over that night, and that has not changed.
