Cotto won 6 of the first 8 rounds against Margarito. And he has a poor defense, and basically no stamina. He won rounds basically rolling on the ropes and hitting Margarito as he came in. If Cotto was able to do this against Margarito for the first half of thefight. Floyd who has a superior defense, chin, stamina and countering ability will make light work of margarito. Margarito can throw those wide looping punches all he wants, they'll hit nothing but air.
The only time in any of those fights Floyd was forced to fight his opponents fight was in the last half of the Castillo fight when he was forced to stand his ground and fight inside. An injured Mayweather btw, moving up for the first time. He controlled DLH from the mid rounds onwards and basically had his way with him in the center of the ring. Against Judah and Corley who combined won 3 rounds out of 24 against Mayweather, his plan from the outset was to walk them down with a high guard, as he does against South Paws. Margarito doesnt have the technical ability of a Castillo, nor does he have the speed and style of a Judah or Corley. He is a bigger, faster version of Baldomir. Not much else.

Again, Margarito couldnt beat a green Williams, Clottey or Santos. None of those 3 is in any shape or form on Floyds level.

:patsch That doesn't even make sense. I'm sure to you it does though. You say it could be scored 8-4, but given it was a 1 handed Clottey, it was a draw? WTF?!?

What's the score with Margarito's own injury braniac? Seriously...you think a post like you made is supposed to mean something? It just shows how ridiculous and young you are with your arguments. Like a 9yo trying to explain quantum physics.:patsch

Of course, because Floyd is the chance taker that Clottey and anyone else who had success against Margarito is right? He'd do whatever clottey and cotto and williams would do but more and better because he's a better WW right Rand? Wow... your about as simple minded as eze.... and that's bordering ******.:yep

This is all a valid point...but I think Floyd has the common sense to do what Clottey did in those first four rounds and extend it to possibly at least 10 rounds...your already making the assumption that Floyd will be on the backpedal...I think Floyd actually potshots and ties Margo up (Hopkins style) possibly using the same tactic as he did against Hatton...and Margo will fall for it because he will probably think "I can beat this guy on the inside better than he can to me"...But he will score the better rounds for a UD...

You're assesment of Cotto might be true. And at this point, you ARE correct. But Cotto has shown consistent improvement over EVERY fight, so let's see how much he's cleaned up since his first Loss...I think he doubles his efforts to sharpen his skills...Cotto appears to me as a very motivated individual and I think you'll see a Cotto that no one's ever seen. But who knows...

All this talk about Floyd fighting top WW is boring and getting really stale...because it will most likely never happen :-(

To answer the original thread question. Margarito deserves the title more. The word suits him better. :good

Umm correction idiot Margarito did beat Clottey, lost to williams and lost to Santos yes, However we know the reality of the Santos fight, lets not act like some bitches about that ****.

Point is if this fight is so easy for Floyd then why does your boy avoid the fight? Seriously? why did he suddenly retire one week before the Cotto Margarito fight? I can tell you why, the man didnt want to be called out, he didnt want to hear the public demand he did not want to be put in the position to have to deal with Antonio Margarito.

The man has ducked and dodged all of the top welter weights out there has yet to fight a single one, again your carlos Linear title Baldimor **** is exactly what I said it is, its ****, Margarito has fought much better opposition at welter weight and has stopped two world champions along the way, sure he fell short against Williams but the man had the balls to fight him again where are the top welters that Floyd has fought that can even be compaired to Williams or Cotto? or even Cintron for that matter?

There are none the reality of it is, Floyd doesnt want to risk being done in like that, so Floyd will always look for the easiest softest fights that will make him the most money, he is not about legacy he is about saving face while making cash, and you want to know why he is that way?

its simple, its becuase he has idiot fans like you that are willing to pay to see the bull**** fights he puts together, pathetic that your so willing to pay your hard earned cash to see a man fight someone who has no chance in winning and yet though its obvious the other man simply cant win, Floyd will still always fight a boring saftey first type of fight.

And you all love the way he fights? get ****ing real!

There is a reason they like to post in groups. They need to support each other like alcoholic need AA. In other words, weak will and minds.

If Floyd came back and beat Margarito, as big a fan as I am of Margarito, I would be happy for Floyd. It would be his biggest win as a pro, even if it's not his highest profile fight. The challenge trumps all.

    :rofl

You are ****in' nuts...I know Bazooka brings out "the best" in people. But let's not get crazy. Clottey has WAY more power in his hands than Mayweather does. No ****in' way he pulls that **** off. Mayweather has brittle hands too! Or did you suddenly forget that? He may brake his hands too. And end up in a shell just like Clottey (similar in the Hernandez and Castillo fight...fighting injured) and might end up being the same result...

I still think Mayweather wins...but you're making it out to be EASY...it wont be. I assure you that much :smoke

Margarito does not have one punch KO power. He wins by accumulation. Mayweather hurt his hand against Baldomir, and cruised to a unanimous decision winning every single round.

Blah blah blah ****er. I wanna see a scorecard. I wanna laugh in your face as soon as you try and post some hastily constructed bull**** as to how you scored a fight you obviously didnt see. As Max kellerman said after the fight the judge who scored the fight for De La hoya should never be allowed to judge a fight again, and someone who scored the fight 8-4 for De La Hoya should be banned from this site and boxing completely.

Come on, put up or shut up.
Ahh, so not only are you ****ing blind but deaf aswell. Because from 8th-12th all you here is Manny, Lampley AND ****ing Merchant calling the fight for Floyd. At one point Lampley exclaiming "Floyd is trying to knock Oscar out" and Merchant in the final round saying "Cinqo de mayo is becoming Mayweather" or some bull****. Obviously tipping the fight for Floyd. In between this Floyd is shooting a straight left to Oscars gut and smashing his right on his ear at will. He did this about 5 times and oscar just took it because he couldnt respond.

Just admit right now you were bullshitting because you wanted to hate on Floyd. I'll let it slide as an emotional moment for you. :good

I scored it 8-4 to Floyd. Clear as day. You can debate it if you want. But obviously given your poor recollection of the fight. That'd be a bad idea.

I dont see it that way, Seriously, people think because Tony loops his shots that its an easy fight for Floyd, that isnt true, people think becuase Tony gets hit its an easy fight for Floyd that isnt true neither.

The style in which Tony has he wants you to trade/fight with him, meaning if he has to give you a shot to create an opening to land his own that is what he is willing to do, take the Cotto fight for example, Cotto did have the perfect formula to beat him combonations and move.

The problem was, Tony had seen so much of that through his career he knew exactly how to go about the fight plan, he allowed Cotto to stay on his bike, worked him in the spots in which he would stand still especially to the body, now you have a man hurt to the body using his legs like crazy.

Suddenly mid way through the fight, Cotto was getting tagged with cleaner shots to the head, due to his limited ability to keep moving at the fast pace he was moving earlier, only to lead us to the end of the fight in which the punishment he took and the energy he used over welmed him it was beaten out of him.

Floyd will fight that style he will try to move the same way, but its like I said I dont think he is as durable as his fans make him out to be, I seriously think there are legit reasons for Floyd not taking this fight, if its so easy it would have been taken I mean come on already Floyds recent opponents have proven if they are easy fights he will take them.

Well this is an easy fight he isnt taking, and that simply leads me to beleive based on what I have seen out of both of them, that Margarito is simply too much for Floyd to handle, yes Floyd will look sharp in the early rounds but the end will be no different than Miguel Cottos end with Margarito, he will either quit on his stool or get knocked out Cold.

and Beleive me Tony wants that win more than Floyd does, Floyd doesnt want the fight becuase of what it will take to get the win, and that is a fact, Floyd doesnt want to risk what he will have to risk in order to beat Antonio Margarito.

and after all the trash talking he has done about Margarito he sure doesnt want his fan base to see him owned

Fair enough...that MIGHT happen...but i SERIOUSLY doubt it.

I think the only people that stand the biggest chance are Pac and Williams. Cotto and Margo stand about equal chance at beating Floyd IMO

That was my point I think Clottey is more durable, and again Floyds hands will always be a factor in this fight, he simply doesnt have good hands especially against a guy like Margarito who can take a brick or two and keep comming.

and yes your right Rand makes it seem like its going to be an easy fight, Antonio Margarito is no easy fight for any fighter, even those who had beaten him.

Here's a perfectly good highlight of Floyd tapping that ass right here. Got the full fight on Youtube. They got the fight. Watch rounds 10-12. And see who the HBO crew is tipping the fight for.

    Still waiting on that scorecard.

Go get an unedited copy just take the clip of when they say Floyd is trying to knock DLH out, I dont recall that but I can tell you this for a fact Lampley Merchant and stewart did speak about how DLH was deflecting most of Floyds shots and how nothign was landing very clean. post all the **** you want try and make **** out to be something its not, your getting off topic and for a reason.

This DLH fight doesnt mean **** to me, Pacquiao showed you what real fighters do when they get in the ring, Margarito has fought all of the best Welter weights, what has Floyd done? Nothing case closed end of thread.

Well this very well may be true and of course we'll have differing ideas...you're not changing my mind about it. I've seen many of his fights and he DOES loop his shots and misses quite a few.

Your assesment of Cotto's demise is off. The body shots played a nice roll but the thing that ****ed up the most was getting stuck on the ropes and eating uppercuts. Cotto's bloody nose played a HEAVY roll in his declining stamina. He was breathing heavy since round 4 and was in survival from then on...and still did quite well boxing him out.

Floyd has never ducked into uppercuts the same way Cotto did. Cotto literally was bent down looking for body openings and got caught with nasty flurries of uppercuts. Floyd wont do the same.

But I think your point about Floyd not taking the fight and being a total ***** about the whole thing is totally true. Floyd fanboys will deny this, throw the Williams excuse, call Cotto (his highlight victory) a hype job, laugh about Santos, say that his defense is impeccable and made of steel and will potshot his way to victory blah blah blah. But let's face it. Step out of all these bull**** negotiation "facts" and you can see Floyd's true colors. BUT CAN YOU BLAME THE MAN?? He started out at 130...

ONE ****IN THIRTY!!...Can you imagine any other lightweight making a name for himself and moving up 3 weight divisions in 3 years later and fighting the top dogs in the WW division...that's almost as crazy as assuming Pac can do the same thing.

I'm not a fan of Floyd's in the least, but he's clearly not a WW and if he chooses soft fights then let it be. My only problem with Floyd is his constant **** talking about beating all those guys and what has he done to get a shot with Mayweather :blabla What the **** have you done in WW to get a shot with those guys...he's living off his greatness in the lower weight classes. He'd get his ass kicked by any of the heavier guys he's been saying he'd beat. Floyd should either come out of retirement and fight someone or STFU and RETIRE IN PEACE...

Overall...**** these ridiculous talks about who would win because at the end of the day, itll be the toughest fight for either fighter.
