this was on he setanta website, ray hatton saying that the fight could still go ahead in england. Ricky Hatton's 'Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather Jr retirement plan' is out the window, according to The Hitman's father Ray. Hatton had spoken about taking on Pacquiao on May 2nd. He was then planning to stage a rematch against Mayweather, who beat him in December 2007 in Las Vegas, before retiring. Now, however, Hatton is planning on extending his boxing career beyond 2009, especially if the mooted clash against Pacquiao goes in his favour. "He said to me that if he wins his next fight, he will be looking at another year," Hatton Senior confirmed to the Manchester Evening News. "A lot depends on your performances and he's got that hunger back." Hatton's fight with Pacquiao is a near certainty, though Ray Hatton says the pair are still haggling over a location. "As far as we are concerned the fight is all but done," he added. "We are just fighting our corner in terms of the location. For the British fans we want to have it over here and we are trying to put together a package to show that we can financially equal or better what they can do over there."
They wouldn't be the equivalent of $330 if the fight was at Wembley. More like $140ish..... A 100,000 stadium would be packed for this one.
i recall pac saying, "i have no problem fighting hatton in the UK..." and ricky saying, "win or lose, i'd rather fight pac then oscar next..." when pac pulled off the upset and beat oscar that put his team in the drivers seat to call the "shots." if he had lost the fight (like expected) there would have been more of a chance of a fight being held at Wembley.
Sounds to me like Ray Hatton is just trying to give the impression that he's trying his best for the British fans before caving into the inevitable and signing to fight in a Vegas casino.
I'm praying this will be in Vegas. If it is I will be going out there again but I won't be making the 4 hour trip to Wembley. 100,000 fans in Wembley will be a massive anti-climax for most in attendance. Football Stadiums are not meant for boxing.
Great analysis. Why do people bother making this type of post and then stick a nodding smilie at the end agreeing with themselves as if it somehow adds weight to their opinion.?
