At the end of there fight when they was announcing the Hopkins win , Bernard looked over an saw a dejected figure of Kelly Pavlik , he went straight over and said dont let this loss effect you!!!

Kelly was looking up to Bernard , nodding his head and taking it in from the master! With Hopkins saying at the end "hey listen you're family"

Because he felt and knew that Kelly is a worthy opponent and a great fighter.
Plus if Pavlik wins in the future it will make Bernard's legacy even better.

He wanted Pavlik to be apart of Golden Boy Promotions so he could make some money off him when he retires.

How the hell does that make Bernard a *****? He didnt gloat, he didnt rip him. He was all class about it and really talked to Kelly man to man. I was really impressed that Bernard did that

Hopkins admitted he is a Pavlik fan. He wants to see Pavlik get better - not fall apart.

because he saw an extremely promising young boxer dejected after a loss. and he gave him some world class advice from a master at the sport of boxing. i dont hold that loss against pavlik b-hop is one of the greatest boxers any of us has seen.

Cause he knows how one fight can destroy a fighters confidence. Look at Lacey!

They are part of an exclusive club, world middleweight champions. Even in this day of 63 title belts, it still means something

Hopkin's was pure class at the end of that fight. He looked and sounded very sincere. Jermain Taylor and Kelly Pavlik are members of a very exclusive group. A group Hops is not part of. They are two of only a handful of men who became world middleweight champions while still undefeated. BHop is the longest reigning champ with more title defenses than any middleweight champ in history. When you're looking at BHop, Taylor, and Pavlik, you're loking at a very special group of fighters. Hops knows that even better than we do.
