Just exactly what it says on the tin here.

Ricardo Lopez. Felix Trinidad. Joe Calzaghe. Shane Mosley.

Who was the most effective/impressive fighter h2h in their prime?

Please explain your choice, the more detailed the better :good

    ricardo lopez.
didn't fight as good of opponent as the other 3 but in my poinion he's the most complete fighter,he looks near perfect on film, superb technique, great combinations, accuracy, power.when im boxing i think to myself,be like lopez.
id have loved to see him against carbajal & GONZALEZ

Can't comment on Lopez I don't know enough about him.

As for the other 3 then Calzaghe h2h is more effective and impressive.

Calzaghe has only won by SD twice in his career, the otheres have all been dominant wins so he's never really looked like losing in his prime. He's the most dominant 168 fighter ever.

Mosley got lucky against DLH in the rematch (and took steroids which is a disgrace) and lost to Vernon Forrest twice.

Trinidad was very good but got schooled by Hopkins, looked almost unbeatable at WW but won a robbery against De la Hoya.

    Calzaghe
    Trinidad
    Mosley

I would also have loved to see him v Carbajal and Chiquita. I strongly believe he would've beaten both and would now be thought of as one of the very best lower-weight fighters ever.

Lopez. Great technical puncher. The fourth punch in a five punch combo would be as perfect as the first. Distributed his weight perfectly. Shame he never got Carbajal or Gonzalez.

i would say calzaghe, he beaten all put in front of him and unbeaten since a dodgy decision at 11 years old (i think, becuase the opponents dad was referee) you must be good. He always finds a way to win, and we should give him credit for his skills

I'd say Tito because he fought the best opposition of the four but Lopez is right there with him and probably the better fighter but because of the difference in opposition Tito gets the nod.

Calzaghe for me. Mentally proven. The most versatile and adaptable of the bunch. More proven against top opposition than a guy like Lopez, etc.

Agreed but not more proven than Tito or Shane IMO.

True, but more versatile and adaptable than Tito or Shane, and this thread is about their skills, not their accomplishments. I only brought accomplishments up in regards to Lopez because I (and most people in general) can't say definitely how effective he was, as he never proved himself against anything even resembling an elite fighter until past his prime against Rosendo Alvarez in bouts he really struggled in (particularly the first).

I still find impressive and effective to have different meanings. Shane looked mighty impressive at LW, we could say those were his peak days. However was he only as effective as his opposition allowed him to be, considering how terrible it was?

Anyway, on film Lopez looks most impressive, extremely close between him and Shane at 135.

Calzaghe has been the most effective throughout his "peak", whenever that was for him considering he's come up against a better range of styles and adapted each time. That's proven effectiveness as opposed to the above.

By the way Dinamita, are some of these threads to help with your p4p list?

They seem like fighters that would be in the same echelon when I think about my own.
