what fighters have you had a massive change of opinion on?
and what is it that made you think differently about them?

i used to hate james toney.ive not been into boxing that long and just saw him as a fat, annoying loud-mouth,then i watched toney vs barkley,i was massively impressed by his performance.brilliant defence and in-fighting.
since then ive been a fan,hell-i even find him pretty damn funny.

I never rated Margarito but he continues to prove me wrong.

Izzy Vasquez to a degree, though I really like the guy and hope he can cash out soon and retire before inflicting to much damage on himself.

Vitali...never had a problem with him but some of his fans made it hard to talk positive about him..I dont recall picking against him in any fight besides Lewis but at the same time he has never been my favourite heavy.
Over the years I have grown to like him.

Mine would be Floyd Mayweather. I used to despise the little ****, but I've been watching more of him on dvd over the last couple of years, and I have now eaten my fair share of crow and these days appreciate what a skilled operator he was.

ive gone the other direction regarding floyd, simply because the welterweights are stacked and his choice of opposition the past few years has been sub par.i recognise him as a superb fighter but imagine if he had margarito, cotto and williams instead of baldomir, judah and hatton.

Mayweather, always wanted to like him but didnt like his character, now I miss him & will try to keep cool when he opens his mouth in hope of seeing him do his awesome **** inside the ring.

Armstrong, never bothered checking for much footage of him as I didnt think it would be clear enough considering he fought in the 30s & 40s but some footage is suprisingly good & if Im honest, I just ****ing love his style, his achievements arent bad either.

I agree somewhat..He really cleaned up superfeather and went straight for probably the best titlist at light..Gave him a rematch after clearly struggling..After that he didnt really set the world on fire with his choice of opponants..I mean Gatti for christs sake..Clearly he was more concerned about money then legacy or the best opposition out there and I cant really blame him, thats the way the game has went.

Though I think Hatton was a step in the right direction again and if its his last fight..not a bad one.

    Hopkins.

After watching him through a dozen punches a round vs Taylor I thought he was done. I didn't believe he could go up 2 weight divisions at his age and beat Tarver, yet he humiliated him.

Then after watching the horrible eye melt that was Calzaghe/Hopkins, and with Roach leaving his side, I thought he was completely and utterly done. So I thought Pavlik would beat the old man into submission and stop him through accumulation late, I couldn't have been more wrong. Hopkins put on a stunning display.

    Pacman.

Its not that I never knew he was good but I was never bothered about him, his loss to Morales stuck out like a sore thumb to me and I felt he lost to JMM in the rematch, but the way hebattered Diaz and then De La Hoya made me sit up and look at his record more closely. His achievments have been incredible, its irrelevent if I think he lost to Marquez - who I regard as highly anyway. Pacman is a true all time great.

    Hatton.

I thought Hatton was finished after seeing the Lazcano performance. He hadnt looked good against a natural 140lb fighter for a while and had been KOd, I thought the lifestyle had caught up with him and his time was up. I picked PM to out point him, but he proved me wrong.

Now the two fighters I have underestimated most recently could make the fight I want most in 2009.

Thought his chin was granite and cant be stopped ever but seeing how Monte Barret had him hurt I changed my mind and think this dude is gonna get stopped very soon and its going to be spectacular.

Also I thought that he had some skills and the fights with Ruiz and Donalds were just bad performances and a better indicator of his skill level is the Liakovich fight but now I believe that he is so limited that he cant even beat someone like Holyfield and Liachovic was simply shot.

    Co-sign.

I still hate him though for his loud mouth and lack of sportmanship. NardRetards are not making it easier to like him either.

yeah its a shame margo hadn't beat cotto yet...cotto would not fight PBF at the time and williams was fairly unknown when he fought baldo (champion) judAH (previous champ) and hatton....the best 140 lb fighter in the world
