Because Haye does not box. Watch what he tries to do at heavyweight. He stands out of range and loads up on a right hand. That is the sum of what he did against Monte Barrett. He does not emply a consistent jab, which is why he has struggled to keep come forward fighters off him in the past. He also severely overrates his own defence. Keeping his hands down like that...his reactions ain't that good. When you get knocked down and hurt you need to keep your hands up...its a clear warning. Byrd knew how to defend himself and he knew he had to box with the bigger men. Haye is going to be found wanting in this department when he takes so many risks. And Tua would be a man to expose it horribly at his best. I initially didn't see the 2009 part, I'm not sure what condition Tua is in right now but he'd still be in with a shot.
When Tua actually believed in himself back in the amatuer days, he got knocked out by the likes of Savon and even a K1 fighter named Ray Sefo.
I'm being serious, Tua is the most overrated heavyweight fighter of all times. Even Andrew Golota used him as stress- relief in sparring, Andrew used him as a batty- boy. He owned him in sparring, and would do so back in the day in a pro- ring.
Golota never owned him in ****ing sparring. Golota would get crazy frustrated and started low blowing like the insane MOFO he is. Just because he could not hurt David. They had great competitive sparring sessions.
He scrolled backwards, rolling his shoulders like a confused puppy against Lewis, he would not dare to risk his image getting knocked out trying to win. Lewis made him look a fool, and if he would've opened up against Lenny, he would've been put on the canvas. Hasim Rahman schooled Tua, and he put him on the canvas after the last bell in their rematch (after Tua cheated his way to a win in the first outing). I mean, lets be honest here. TUA SUCKS.
It's pretty amazing a fighter that sucks has wins over a heavyweight champion, and two heavyweight titlists. Not to mention that fantastic fight with Ike who people still look back on as a wasted talent. Nobody ever said he was great, but I would think you are being more dramatic than these so called people that overrate him if you think he sucks.
He's got schooled by the likes of Byrd, Rahman, Wooden and even Cisse Salif. Even Maurice Wheeler had his way with Tua before quitting. I mean c'mon.. I've read too much hypocrite bull**** about Tua, he does not deserve the credit, he wouldn't be champion in any era. Rahman knocked him down in their second fight, just go back and look at it.. it was a knockdown.
Tua never impressed me either, he fought like a ***** against Lewis and is so one dimensional in his boxing its painful to watch. Anyone with a little ring smarts and movement could always beat him. He also talks about himself in the third person which is also unacceptable.
He knocked him down and what? What does that prove? :? Schooled by Rahman my ass. If Rahman would have had a better chin he wouldn't have got hurt and be ducking down on the ropes waiting to get KO'd when the ref did prematurely stop it. So that's a nice fantasy win on the cards like Vitali Klitschko's impressive double over Byrd and Lewis. The second was close, if you saw a schooling you need your eyes testing quick. Those fights in 2005 onwards...what does that say about the fighter Tua was? Tua did his best work long before that. God damn he weighed 250lbs and he's 5ft 10. What sort of credit is he getting? That he'd beat David Haye? Hardly incredible praise really. Haye has been hurt by a super middleweight fighter. He was down and hurt against Mormeck, had a struggle and got his face busted with Fragomeni. Tua can do the **** they did coming forward and putting him under pressure. I rate Haye as a good fighter but its not great praise for Tua to beat him.
Tua vs Herbie Haye would be just like Tua vs Moorer. A brutal quick KO. No way could Haye's Glass Jaw take Tua's punches.
ah, I know. I think Tua is very overrated the guy could not even win a belt in this bad Heavyweight Division. I was just messing around. :good
