Who did you guys HONESTLY pick to win? Please don't vote Hopkins if you didn't really pick him to win.

Tito. I remember Hopkins wearing the WAR hat during interviews :)

Back then it was all about winning the MW tournament and going for Jones. I remember Tito's Dad saying if they win the tournament, move up to 168 and beat Jones, they could retire with the top 10 ATGs. If that would have happened a good number of people would have ranked him that way. If Trinidad would have stayed at 154 till around 04 or so his move to MW would have been just right. Tito was at his absolute best at 154 and would have beaten SSM and DLH at that weight. He also could have done much better against Wright at 154 having come off a layoff and fighting a bum like Mayorga. Him moving up and knocking Joppy out was a bit of a surprise but Hopkins could have always won that fight unless he really was hurting himself to make weight by 05.

I thought Tito would dominate Bhop. For the first time ever all my Puerto Rican buddies at the party were speechless.

Excellent post bro:good I though he would KO Hopkins inside of 8:patsch
However I figured Roy would've beaten him at 168 but that wouldn't have been so bad, moving from WW all the way to SMW to fight the great Jones. Hopkins derailed all that pretty easily.:verysad

Tito was 2 weights above his best and Bernard was really a LHW draining himself to make 160. I considered the size and strength and thought B-hop would win. A mistake for Tito to go up to 160. He was a monster below that.

I agree, but I wonder if you were saying that after he disposed of Joppy so easily.

I was the biggest Tito fan you could find back then, So of coures I picked Tito and I was confident about it to, But **** was it a shutout.. All they way untill the last second of that fight I just keep praying and praying for Tito to land a big one

Its funny cause I was confident he would beat Hopkins, but the day he signed to fight Winky I told all my friends that he career was over, that he would get beat... and hell he did.

I honestly picked Hopkins. Not only was he a 4:1 underdog, but so was Byrd going into his bout with Tua. I placed a parlay bet on Hopkins and Byrd, only, in the end, I only got paid for the Byrd victory because Hops-Tito was pushed back because of 911.
