In my view, it would be an excellent fight at 143. I am sure Hatton won't fight him at 147 but Cotto would go down to 143 for a mega match up for sure.

    Who wins and how?

They both have other issues at hand at the moment. Cotto needs to avenge his loss and Hatton is about to get he ass beaten around the ring by Manny. IF that fight ever should happen though, Cotto beats him pretty easily.

both warriors, and at 140 should be at their best weights. basing them on their resumes, i don't think hatton beats the past his prime mosley that barely got beat by cotto. i think hatton might be the more active of the 2, but cotto's jab and willing to trade might make the difference. i'd also give cotto a slight speed advantage. we know how miguel did with a bonafide pressure puncher like margo, and hatton is one as well, but margo took some massive shots from cotto in return and i can see those same shots buckling or dropping anyone 147 on down excluding margo or pw, but including hatton or floyd.

Until Cotto moved up, everyone thought he would be easy prey for Hatton.

Cotto wanted NOTHING to do with hatton at 140 - he didn't show interest until he moved up to 147

Why is it that people think Hatton has never mentioned Cotto's name? Simply not true. When Cotto was at 140, a fight with Hatton never happened simply because Hatton still hadn't quite made it in the eyes of the Americans, whereas Cotto was the next fighting machine that never looked like getting beaten. Hatton has mentioned Cottos name plenty of times because he believes that Cotto's heart can be broken (and was proven against margarito). Hatton - Cotto at 140 or 143 or 147 would be a hell of a fight.

Lots of fighters 'mention' lots of other fighters.

You could just have easily have titled the thread 'Hatton has mentioned Cotto many times, why hasn't Cotto shown interest?'

I've always wondered why this fight never happened when both were at 140??? I think this fight should be made at a catch weight.

Cotto was none too eager to fight Hatton at 140 and then outgrew the weight. No big mystery.
