Maybe I'm Jumping the gun but after seeing some posters thoughts about this fight I would like to see more.

My initial thought when this fight was first announced was that it would be one of those deals were everyone would call winky washed up and there would be a small handful of winky supporters but it seems to be the other way around....

a small handful of pw supporters and the majority (so far) are picking winky

Glancing Over Winky's Past Couple Fights I've Noticed that he hasn't faced any south paw boxers.... not only that but he hasn't fought any high volume fighters like paul williams.... the most comparable is jermain taylor who he scored a draw with and that was like 3 years ago so rust may play a major factor in this matchup

I think this will be an interesting stylistic matchup to see what winky has left in the tank & how Paul does with a skilled boxing veteran...

I think you can draw up realistic situations for both participants winning the fight....

most of yall already know who my loyalty lies to .. and if you dont just take a quick peep at my avy.....

    what are your thoughts?

    quick edit:

    This content is protected
... because at this point it seems 50%-50% ... some people think winky will win some people think paul will win..

    so make your calls

This is obviously a cash grab by team Williams looking to cherry pick who they believe is the easiest fight out of the top fighters at 160. Who knows, perhaps Winky is shot? They probably see this as a win/win situation, thinking he has an outside shot to catch Winky on the downside of his career and even if he doesn't, give a good showing in defeat and go back down and fight Dzindziruk for the WBO title at 154. But most likely this will blow up in their face with Winky embarrassing Paul in a one-sided drubbing and exposing his amateur boxing skills for what they are. The idea that PW being a southpaw is going to throw in some ****** wrench into the equation is really laughable considering the world class boxer that Winky is.

For Winky, this is merely a tune-up fight for bigger things at 160 that pays better than a fight against some no-name on FNF.

Williams will be called cherrypicker and Winky will be called washed up if he performs bad.It really matters how he will perform.Even losing but with a good performance would give Williams credit. But let's remember Winky will probably have a 2 year layoff by the time of the fight.

what do you mean a cash grab? you really hate williams...

who do you see as a better opponent for paul williams... by taking this fight

    - the test paul at 160
    - put paul up against a recognized boxing star

this is the best possible fight you can make for paul williams at the moment

Nothing about Williams fighting Winky should be considered cherry picking. If Winky has anything left he's still one of the best fighters in the world.:deal I'm looking forward to this match up and props to both men for making it.

Exactly! This guy is a Williams hater and would discredit Williams no matter who he fought. Winky is an elite fighter and was only dropped from the top 10 P4P due to being inactive.

Cheery picking? Hell no. I tend to favor Winky in this one. Of course I'm assuming that Winky has at least 3/4 of a tank of gas left.

Indeed. I also like Pavlik saying he wants the winner.

Honestly to me it is a worry how good Winky will perform, but I'm not to sure how you can like boxing and not like Williams. Bring the fight on!!

Suppose KP fought AA immediately after Rubio? No one would give a rats ass about the winner fighting Williams, Wright, Sturm, et. Arum is trying to build Pav into a big star. So far he's doing a good job, with BHop being the only serious mistake.

I don't hate Williams. Its more of his team (Goosen/Petersen) and foolish fanboys like you that I don't like.

Why test Paul at 160 when he has so much unfinished business at 147 and 154? If Paul was a legitimate 160lb fighter, then why even bother starting his career at 147?

A better opponent and more competitive fight for Paul right now would be either Joshua Clottey at 147 for the IBF belt or Segeiy Dzindziruk for the WBO belt at 154 who are both available. Why bother to become Dzindziruk's mandatory if you're not going to fight him? I call it a cash grab because if Williams lands a fight with Winky he'd make more money. But I see it as little more than a longshot and a PR stunt. And like I said, if he loses he has nothing to be ashamed of, unless of course he loses like Trinidad loses. I personally think it'll be worse, with Winky rearranging his facial features. If Verno Phillips could bust up PW's face with so little offensive output, imagine what Winky will do. I'd hate to see him get Lacy'd with still so much to accomplish at 147 and 154.

Hater you say? If anything, I'm the only one here concerned about PW's career and his ability to perform his trade at the highest level in the future.

I agree. It would sell more here in the US but if I had to chose I would prefer Pavlik-Abraham but great fights either way.
