You miss my point entirely. Do you think that Ali and Foreman at their peaks would be capable of winning a world title in today's scene? If yes, then you agree that the relative physiques are not that important. If no, then I suggest you go and learn something about boxing. GOODBYE!!!!! GOODBYE!!!!!
American HW's have really gone downhill. But it's possbile one with gifts of great skill could emerge.
not really. he is 6 foot 2, 220. not bad. He can throw 1000 punches in a 12 round fight (chambers). he comes in at similar weights for fights as well. while he does have a good bit of subcutaneous fat, its certainly a stretch to say he's soft. thats more or less his body type.
Povetkin has no problem going 12 rounds though. I like Arreola but it says a lot about the state of American Heavyweight Boxing when he is the consensus #1. Even worse is some experts have Kevin Johnson as #2. :-(
The very best HW from the USA is Brian Minto. He will be world heavyweight champion by the end of 2009, hands down.
No wait.. :yep Nah, that's not it... :rofl That's more like it! Is this the same Minto that an ancient Tony Tubbs beat??
funny how the NFL/NBA excuse always comes up when discussing the state of american heavyweights...the "best athlethes in the world are in the NBA" was and has been proved wrong time and time again in the last 10 years. Our spoiled rotten millionaire "athletes" got beat by such phenomenal powers as Greece and Spain. Our heavies are getting the same from russia, ukraine, etc......I blame it on the "pussification" of America.....Strong male leadership and values are frowned upon in America now.....we need to all get in touch with our feelings....what a crock !!!!
Oh, come one Brian Minto has improved alot, since he got robbed against Tubbs. Minto has the skills to beat Wladimir Klitschko, he just has to stop fighting bums like Poore or Polley. 2009 will be Brian´s year, hands down :good.
The fact reamins he should have walked through Tubbs. He wl need to improve a great deal if he wants to challenge Wlad, and I'm no Klitschko fan. :deal
True. I think the athletic big guys are going into other sports. The $$$ in basketball or football are just such a huge draw to those kind of guys. I dont see the "American HW" coming back anytime soon
Wrong. Guys arent getting to boxing because they are "pussies"?:huh Bull****. If you could play a "main stream" pro sport and make 5-10 million a year instead of trying to work your way to the top in boxing...what would you do?
MMA has not helped....Other pro sports..... US amateur systems suck..... Olympic system sucks...boxing popularity in the US in general is down. There are many reasons why. We dont develop our boxers like we used to. BUT... to say that Americans are "pussies" is just plain STUPID
