The PPV with Oscar and Manny was the best of the year! Boxing is still the ****!
However, Oscar was not the year's biggest star. This article mentions the real winner for 2008...

In 2009, I hope we can still have a boxing event reach over 1m ppv buys without the help of Oscar.

IMO the best PPV main event this year is definitely Cotto-Margarito

In the US? No chance, need an American in it to make those numbers. Mayweather-Pac would do it imo.

The lack of American talent is a real problem.

Hatton and Pac have both been in mainstream fights that had great PPV numbers (Mayweather-Hatton, Pacquiao-DLH).

I think if the fight is marketed properly and they have a good 24/7, this fight could do a million buys.

I preferred Cotto - Margarito, it was unquestionably a better fight.

I know many of you preferred Margarito-Cotto, but this is about the numbers. The one boxing ppv that topped each of this year's UFC events. De La Hoya-Pacquiao

The 1.25 million buys is but one of the reasons he will soon announce the Chavez Jr. fight.

I would bet that if Haye were to be able to beat Vitali, then a PPV between Haye vs Wlad would not only be the first big HW PPV in years, but could maybe bust that 1m mark.
