The undercard was awful and then the main event was a joke. Oscar decides he's going to keep the fight at distance against the naturally smaller man. Amazingly, when it is clear that his tactics are all wrong, he continues with them except he decides to throw even less punches back. He deserved every single shot he took in that fight and I still think Paccy can't believe how awful De La Hoya was. Now Cotto v Margarito was a real contest.
True, but still, the one boxing ppv that topped each of this year's UFC events was De La Hoya-Pacquiao. I'm having my doubts that a boxing event will be the top ppv in '09.
I really hope so, that would be great ..but I highly doubt it. Replace Hatton with Mayweather, that sounds more like it.
I think Pacquiao-Mayweather is the only realistic possibility, however neither of them have achieved over 1m ppv buys without De La Hoya's involvement in the ring.

if they scrolled down to the bottom, the last 5 would have been MMA ppvs.... boxing is hardly king with one ppv being in the top 10, even if it was the #1 PPV
This economic meltdown may mean smaller PPV in 09. I think the DLH and Pac fight could have been larger if the economy was not in the tank by the end of 08.
Not really...nobody knows who David Haye is in the USA-and Wlad doesn't have a huge name either...Mayorga vs Oscar only did 975,000 buys. The worst has to be RJJ vs Chalzaghe for a mere 200,000 buys...LOL
