Carnera was the Valuev of today, limmited skills, but a huge man who looked tougher than he really was. I feel both Klits would of beaten him, especially Vitali, who has no fear and would destroy anyone fighting today and would give most heavyweight greats a hell of a fight. I feel Wlad always has a chance to lose against a puncher, It wouldnt surprise me if Carnera would of beat him.
Fair enough but I do feel Carnear was a level or two over Valuev. He actually was and got better technically in American and actually fought contenders and real challenges unllike mr Sasquatch.
To Valuevs credit, he has fought top level opposition, guys like Chagaev, Ruiz twice, and a few other top 20 Heavyweights like Barrett, McCline, Holyfield, and Liakhovich. He never backs down from a challenge, and was ready and willing to take Chageav on in a rematch, something Chageav continues to cancel on. I dont think much of Valuev as a fighter, he's more or less a freak show as Don King wanted to make him out to be, but he does have enough to give almost anyone in the division a tough fight and seems to have a granite chin, which in todays division, is good enough to be a title holder.
Ill have to go with Bert on this one, I mean he did see the Carnera fight live , so he must be an authority
Please......:blood:barf......let's not talk level of competition between the 2.Carnera's opposition is A LOT better than Valuev's:Young Stribling(2),Godfrey,Levinsky(2),Gains,Lasky,Kennedy,Schaaf,Louis and Sharkey(twice, including once for the title). Valuev hasn't made a single effort to unify with either Klitschko.
His hat and cigar shtick is old as hell. The guy does nothing but talk about old fighters, because his short term memory is shot to ****. Useless. The lame ass used to sit in on FNF as a guest, and hold a cigar in his hands, and in his mouth for hours, that wasn't even lit.
I wont argue with you there, but Valuev's career is far from done. The reason why he hasn't fought a Klit is becuse of his promoter Don King, not him. I think will see Valuev fight Wlad or Vitali by the end of 09.
Isn't done?He is going on 36 and just lost to a 46 year old Holyfield.Chagev would probably clean his clock.Vitali would KO him.Wlad would KO him.Even Haye would stop him. That paper belt he has which is as paper as it gets him being the ''champion while the champion is in recess'' will be lost when he fights somebody decent again and the guy gets fair judging.
Thats your opinion, and thats fine, but he's certainly a top 10 heavyweight, anyway you cut it. All of his wins/losses are were all close, so noone has actually kicked his ass yet, the same cant be said for Wlad or anyone else currently fighting in the division, other than maybe Vitali, who I feel would destroy Valuev, everyone else would either beat him by a slim margin or loss to him by a slim margin IMO.
