It'll not put him in 1st anyway, especially if say Calzaghe were to beat Dawson, with him being number2 on most lists he'd probably move into 1st. I'd have him at forth, the only way he can make it to 1st for me is if he beats PBF
I think he would go up to #1. Hatton was around 10 even before he beat Paulie M. Now, he's around 7-8 on most people's list. If he dominates Pacman, i think The Ring will put him #1.
7th or 8th for me. I think he will beat Pac but he'll have trouble doing so. He won't move up much in my rankings for over-powering a naturally much smaller man whilst displaying inferior skill.
I think it's hard to judge where Hatton will be placed for the sheer fact that this will be the 4th different weight class that manny has fought in his last 4 fights so it is hard to gauge where a true 140 fighter would rank if he beat him as some people would say that manny shouldn't be fighting at that weight anyway as the more weight he puts on, the less effective he will be p4p (that is basically the point of P4P ratings - being able to rate lighter boxers due to skills etc.) If manny was p4p no1 at this weight and hatton beat him then he would be top 3 no doubt, but on the other hand you could just say he was beating up a blown up lightweight in which obviously you couldn't really give him as much credit. (Would ODLH be p4p no1 if he had won against manny?)
skill has nothing to do with p4p ranking, it's about winning fights. skill is only used as a measure of how you figure a fight would go, but if hatton beats him, he doesn't have to be an ultra skilled fighter to do it. otherwise margo wouldn't be anywhere near a p4p list. as far as over-powering a much smaller man, have you seen the stats, they're anout the same size.
If, and imo its a big if, Hatton beats Pacquiao, he deserves top 3 recognition. Where in that top three will depend heavily on what else occurs between now and then, and Hattons performance during the fight.
