Agreed with the consensus, Ortiz may have been too well rounded and could do a little too much for Tszyu. Ortiz was clear decision or late round TKO.
I would question that. Tszyu was very good at shutting down southpaws (especially slick southpaw boxers) and he could throw his right hand from a variety of angles, meaning Whitaker could have a hard time finding a way to duck and weave out of its way.
If Tszyu can't knock Whitaker out, and there's good evidence to suggest he can't, then it becomes irrelevant how good he is at timing him. He's going to get outpointed.
Well said, you're right... poor grammar on my behalf... Im totally embarrased... regardless.. Tszyu had the right to say goodnight, Sweet pea.
Kostya Tszyu would have outboxed Ortiz before putting his lights out, Tszyu TKO Ortiz round 9. Tszyu has NEVER been outboxed in his life. And slick South paws were his bread and butter.
Not necessarily, if he can time him and land often enough, then he can score enough points to win by decision.
Such as taking 284 punches from Trinidad when he was past his best and fighting half the fight with a broken jaw. Like fighting big brutes like Julio Cesar Vasquez and getting rattled to the rib cage and still holding fort. Like being rattled by Roger Mayweather in only his 12th fight and having a clear enough head to dodge all the subsequent shots, regain his wherewithal and continue to dispense the ass kicking.
Couldn't agree more. Hence the reason I'd like d to have seen Tszyu/Whitaker.... Pernell is the best southpaw of the last 20 years... A good chance to see both men truly tested, in a match-up against a style they both excelled against.. Neither man took a backward step, both boxed extremerly well on the inside... I only see Tszyu decking Pernell.
Is that the same roger mayweather that Kostya won every round against.... in a lop sided victory?????
Yeah that's the same one. The same one that was glass jawed, way past his prime and the one Tszyu still couldn't put away. Somehow though he will find a way to put Pea on the deck for good.
L don't know enough about Carlos Ortiz to make a call on this one but as for the sub-topic. Whitaker would win a compitive decision over Tszyu if they would have met.
