    Close, but no cigar.

    :yep

Manny doesnt have a Jake Lamotta like chin. He's got a decent chin, but he doesnt have one made out of granite.

I've never seen him go fight a phonebooth, toe to toe, infighting kind of fight, ala Gatti-Ruelas. (wow, those back and forth uppercuts was crazy)

That style of fighting, you usually get hit with sneaky inside uppercuts.

You notice that on all of Manny's KDs in his career, almost all were one shot punches to the chin. One hard shot, and his legs disappear from under him. Flat on the canvas.

He's not one of those fighters who you have to continually hit on the chin, time after time after time before he softens up and goes down.

That's what made him so popular back when he was younger. It was like a sudden death match whenever you watch his fights. He's not a fighter made of stone. He's human.

Either he knocks you out, or you knock him out.

Obviously, he knocks you out, most of the time. :yep

    Kinda like Danny RED Lopez.

Good points about Pac not being an inside fighter........

......which makes me wonder how he'll deal with Hatton if Hatton is able to force the fight to the inside?

Hatton put alot of pressure on Mayweather, but Mayweathers shoulder roll defense and ability and strenghth to grapple with Hatton on even terms, nullified Hatton's attacks.......

I've never seen anyone even try to impose that kind of inside grappling strategy on the inside.......I think its going to be interesting to see Pac try to nullify that.......
......I think its an unknown, and probably improbable that Pac will be able to match Hatton's strenghth if it becomes a close quarters match.

    What do you thing Bulakenyo?

Hey, I'm probably the most pessimistic of all the Pacquiao fans here.

I cant remember a signicant fight of his that I personally thought he was the favorite.

This goes back to 1997, I think. :yep

Against a seasoned filipino: he's dead.
    Against a thai: ****, he's ****ed.
    Against a Japanese: Oh no.
    Against an Aussie: he's done
    Against an african: uh-oh..
Against his first mexican: A MEXICAN?! :admin

    etc, etc..

He just keeps on surprising me.

You know, I never even thought that Manny would reach these heights.

I thought of him, back in 1996, as a young, exciting, TV friendly club fighter.
I just wanted him to have a nice career for himself, and earn enough money, and maybe he'll get a legit world title shot at 112 or 115lbs at the end of his career, for a nice payday.

Win or lose, as long as he gets to hurt his opponent one time, and he fights like he usually does, and I'd be happy.

There was absolutely zero hype on that kid back then. He wasnt protected, he wasnt babied by promoters. He started from scratch, and the local fans loved him because he was like a cult hero. Nobody knew about him except for the boxing fans. We saw him go up 1 notch each time he fought. They always set him up for difficult fights.

If Manny's peak of his career was that win against Sasakul in thailand, and he never had another great fight after that, and had consecutive losses and retired after, I'd still be very satisfied with that.

Even with that, his career would have been a legendary career in my eyes, I dont care about the expert's views. He was my boy, and I was one of the first people to "discover" him.

I have a deep connection with him.

And my ultimate boxing dream for Manny back in the mid-late 1990's?

For him to get just one major Las Vegas undercard, world title fight, with Mills Lane as referee, with Michael Buffer saying "Let's get ready to rumble!" and with his fight being broadcast all over the world.

And that he also get one small picture and a short interview article or a big centerfold picture in an international boxing magazine.

    That was it.

I would have been so thrilled with that. Seriously.

You're deep rooted in Pac's begginings, and though you did'nt expect him to reach the heights he's at today......I dont know how long you've been a boxing fan, or what other fighters you've followed intently......but even when you know that all good things come to an end, the fall of such fighters that one admires, hurt.

I'm glad you're enjoying the ride.

......and though the ride for most fighters inevitably ends on a sad note, unlike alot of Pac fans on this forum, you seem well prepared to deal with what is likely inevitable.

In any regard, win or lose, enjoy every second of it.
The vibe coming from you seems like you'll do just that!:good

I will say this about all Pac fans, though I've had many intense debates with them in regards to Pac's fights with JMM......I'm glad that they are enjoying the ride.

Just wanted all you Pac fans to know that I recognize that Pac is a fighter that should be appreciated now while he's on top, and after when he wont be.

Good luck to Pac, unless he happens to meet JMM again!:D;)
