shouldn't the title of the thread be "WINKY IS BACK!!!!!!!"

 

It is a last contract fight for Winky with HBO and they will use him a stepping stone for another young fighter. I'm surprised Winky accepted the fight.

 

if winky is half as good as he was at 154 previously,he'll shut williams down over 12.

 

So what's the official date?And where?

i was hoping winky would go back to 154,then again when hes on his game theres not many fighters at 160 who could beat him.

 

Old fighters shifting weight is never a good sign, though I hink Winky is a good fight for Williams to take. How Winky will look after so long is hard to say.

Just cant understand why they fought for an interim title if they had no intention of boxing for the full belt...?

Winky is probably shot now, and will drop a decision to Paul.. which will cause Williams to become even MORE overrated.

A prime Winky would embarass Williams.

 

Williams was slated to defend his WW belt on that date. After two opponents were not approved by HBO, they focused on fighting Phillips for his IBF 154 lb. title. After they found out Williams couldn't get ranked by the IBF, an interim WBO 154 lb. title was created. So it's not like he was going after an interim title. Furthermore, Wright is a tougher opponent than Dzinziruk and a win against Winky would set him up with a fight against Pavlik.

 

Man I hope this fight really comes off.
