Your not making any sense..Mosley isn't a higher reward and he is more of a risk...Margarito is making 2.5 million to fight Mosley-He was offered 4 million to fight Williams...

If Margarito beats Mosley he gets his fight with Cotto...if Margarito loses to Mosley, Arum said Cotto-Margarito 2 will still happen...So either way he gets his fight with Cotto wether he fights Mosley or Margo..I

Look at the big picture...if he would have taken the fight against Williams and lost than "Oh well," everyone would say he should have lost to a guy that beat him already and he has 4 million in his pocket by fighting Williams instead of 2.5 million...If he beat Williams than he still has 1.5 million more than he did by fighting Mosley, and theres no question (if he beat Williams) that he is the WW champ.

Mosley is less of a reward and really a higher business risk...Point is he didn't wanna fight Williams because he fears he will lose...I'm not saying hes scared to step into the ring with Williams..I think Tony knows he cant beat Williams..

Wow, what a surprise that a thread about "rumors" (whose source can't be cited but must instead be obtained by PM'ing the OP:patsch:roll:) about Margarito and his upcoming fight with SSM would turn into a Williams-Margarito pissing contest.

    A couple of questions.

Does anyone believe that Paul Williams made more money choosing to fight Carlos Quintana instead of Antonio Margarito?

In regards to money, does anyone think that a Williams-Margarito fight would do better PPV (or even be on PPV at all) than Margarito-Cotto II?

Furthermore, does anyone think that there are no added incentives or compensation for the fighters with the more PPV buys there are?

And lastly, that guaranteed multi-million dollar fights against at least 3 top 5 welter-weights might make more financial sense for a fighter than 1 $4 million fight that might not even be PPV and, based on history, could potentially alienate you from your promoter and freeze you out of the 3 other fights if you sued him to pursue it?

That being said, this rematch will most likely happen eventually but it won't be on Goosen or Williams terms. It might suck, but that's the reality of the situation. The only way this fight happens sooner is if Williams drops Goosen and signs with Top Rank or possibly GBP.

I beleive that you are blowing this Paul Williams is being avoided by Margarito up bigger than it really is. for several reasons, the first being Tony already fought him and lost and has moved on to bigger and better things.

and the second being the obvious, after having fought all of the top welter weights in the divison in 2 years the man is entitled to having himself a bit of a an low risk high reward fight, of which I beleive is the Mosley fight.

I really think Margarito is simply allowing time to pass for the Williams fight to sizzle but the problem is you cant get the steak to sizzle if the damn grill is not even turned on, and that is Pauls fault, he is sitting here fighting guys you just havent heard of, Now with the Winky fight in the works perhaps a win there would strike more public interest in paul which there will always be interest in Margarito based on how he fights.

So if Williams can look spectacular in there with Winky that would look so much better when Margarito and Paul do actually meet again. However lets not also forget that Margarito did ask for an immediate rematch after the Williams fight and Paul declined, so really it is Pauls fault that he doesnt get the rematch now.

The only reason he wants the rematch now is simply becuase of what Tony has built up since their fight, had Tony done nothing none of you would be pushing for this rematch.

I think in time its going to happen, but its not going to happen when paul simply snaps his fingers he is not the man in command here its Tony.

Why does the source have to be kept a secret?? perhaps that is becuase your source is not a good one. No other reports of Tony having trouble to make weight have come up so I think your thread is just wasted space to be honest with you.

When has Margarito ever showed up not in shape?

Just ask him via PM :good I did and I got the source.

Also, Margo got a first huge win, he might of come in a bit more into camp than expected. If he makes it, he makes it, big whoop.

Round 12 was just like the first six for Paul Williams. About 100+ punches thrown and about five good punches out of them. I guess the throwing wet-noodle punchs from Williams won him the fight.

Work rate is exactly what won Paul the fight, to be honest with you the 12th round is where Tony lost his title, he was just simply looking to score one clean one he wasnt letting his hands go in that round on the inside as he needed to.

I dont understand why people think that Margarito is affriad to face the man again, I mean if Tony was beaten and stopped they might have an arguement but a single round victory by Williams doesnt scare **** from a rematch.

The only thing that Tony may be scared of is the lack of public interest and lets just face is, you make more money when you can draw casual fans to the fight along with Hardcore fans, a Williams Margarito fight is a hard core fans fight to see not both Casual and hard core.

Either way, Margarito is still the man right now. I know its a tuff pill to swallow for some, but that is just the reality of it, and again on Jan 24th you will hear HBO state that Floyd Mayweather Jr turned down 8 Million Dollars to fight this guy.

Funny you bring up that the hardcore and casuals won't be interested in a rematch with a guy that beat him. What about when Margarito called out Mayweather in 2006?, you think the casual fans would have been interested?, that's at a time when Margarito's biggest win was Manuel Gomez, just incase you forgot.

Double standards at it's worst, desperate haters. :deal
