Lets imagine the best ever Barrera - maybe the one that beat Naz - vs lets say any decent version of Salvador Sanchez, perhaps the 1st Lopez fight.

12 rds since MAB has never gone 15....

I see Sanchez countering Barrera most of the night aswell as coming out better in most but not all exchanges throughout, I see MAB having trouble with Sal`s movement & needing a KO in the championship rds, I see Barrera maybe taking 1 of the last 2 rds as both go at it but ultimately ends up losing the decision by a clear margin, what do you guys think would happen if 2 of Mexico city`s - & Mexico`s - best ever go at it at their best weight ?

How many fights did MAB have at 126?
What were his 2 best performances at that weight class?

Sanchez punishes Barrera for as long as MAB's body allows him to take it. Salvador was a superior technician who would figure out Barrera early and make him pay for every mistake he made.

Well he had fight's like Morales vs MAB 2 and gave the great Morales he's first lost so that will be a big win at that weight and he also fought Sanchez...MAB was the first to stop him.

Then Tapia, and also he had a fight with Pac that was he's only lost at that weight unfocus but lost. and then agian was the first to stop Ayala as well those are some he fought at 126.

But i do think Sanchez stop's a focus MAB in a very good fight.

In 15 rounds Sal stops Barrera around the 13th. In 12, Sal wins a wide points decision.

Sanchez very good at adapting to styles he'd only had short notice with. I'd say a very focused Barrera (i.e against Hamed) would last the distance, but the Barrera that fought Pacman would get stopped at around a similar stage.

    Barrera at 126:

    He outboxed Naseem Hamed.

I think Johnny Tapia and Paulie Ayala were a bit past their best and out of their best weight division when they fought MAB. Nice wins.

He outboxed and KO'd Kevin Kelly. I think Kelly was in his mid 30's

Didnt see the Enrique Sanchez fight. MAB TKO 6 win.

EM also came from the 122 division, MAB and Erik were basically same sized fighters, it doesnt matter what weight class they fought in.

    He lost to Manny.

How does that compare to Salvador Sanchez's career at 126?
Honest question, I'm not trying to start trouble with fans of MAB.

I'm not singling anybody out. I'm just asking a serious question.

I havent seen a lot of Sal Sanchez fights, so I cant say I'm an expert when it comes to Sanchez's career.

Sanchez, before barrera, was a brawler and one punch ko artist before he became the boxer puncher, so going toe to toe was natural to him as well. nelson's power reached higher than featherweight and was a devastating puncher at 130, he easily matched mab's or erik's power. i think mab's biggest problem might be the Sanchez right hand, jab, and counterpunching. Sal also had the tendency to shine and perform best in his biggest fights. i think maybe, and that's a big maybe, Willie Pep could of won a decision vs. Sal, but not mab. it would of been close, but mab's weakness was the right hand and Sal had one of the best in featherweight history. if barrera opened up in one of those 4-5 combos on Sal like he did with naz, Sal would knock him down, let him get back up, and finish him on a tko win. Sanchez had a much better chin than mab as well

Sanchez stops him late. He could do everything Barrera could do but even better. Marquez would be a tougher matchup for Sal and I still don't think he could be him.

Sanchez is very similar to barrera, but just better in all faces of the game.
