Carl Froch

I said Froch was a breath of fresh air like Haye. By this I mean they are exciting risk taking fighters who deliberately avoid the WarrBO route (unless wiping out Warren fighters for mega£££), both are articulate, tell it like it is and are looking to do some damage in what they both acknowledge will be short but entertaining careers.

I don't really give a **** about Samuel Kebede, but anyway, IMO he was nowhere near the level of Pascal.

 

Nobody will want to fight him. I don't really think Taylor wants anything to do with him, certainly not after the Pavlik fights. Froch is just like a super-middle version of him, only with a better chin. Inkin already ducked him twice, he's not going to unify against anybody let alone Froch. I can't see Kessler wanting anything to do with him, he wants to fight guys like Hopkins, bigger names. Bute still owes Andrade a rematch, I don't think he'd want the fight for some reason.

 

I think the best chance for a succesful unification for Froch would be a fight with Bute. He looks very beatable and the Andrade fight took a lot out of him. Speaking of which, that would also be a good fight to watch. Kessler would be too much and would easily capitalise on Froch's sloppy defence. If he can lift two of three major titles it would still be a fantastic achievement and more than a lot of people expected.

 

Pascal was a decorated amateur. Gold medal at the commonwealth games. Olympian.

I like Haye, but Maccrinelli is not elite. Neither are Tomaz Bonin or Monty Barret !

Froch has KO'd all his opposition in style, is unbeaten and has not been on the canvas.

Haye has been bounced off the deck a few times, has been stopped and has had some really dull fights - infact his fight with Ismail Abdoul in 2006 had people booing and leaving as the 12th round began in Altrincham.

Froch's fight with the tough Pascal was rated as Britain's best fight of 2008 by a raft of commentators and boxing publications.

Maybe they are all blinkered too eh ?

 

If Froch was a 'Name' in the states Taylor would be interested, people cant actually believe that Taylor (a man who has beaten Hopkins twice) is running from Froch .. The fact is that Taylor will never come to England and Froch wouldnt sell any numbers in Vegas so that fight wont happen anytime soon.
Froch needs to tempt Kessler over or take a chance and go on a couple of undercards in the States to get his name out there, i suspect this wont happen because our fighters seem to have ego's way above they're talent, if they're not 'main event' they're not interested even though it could be the road to bigger riches

The OP talks about Eubank getting public recognition for fighting regularly on ITV. Eubank would have got the same level of attention if he was on TV presenting a DIY show. He was a character, a real enigma and a colourful personality... he just so happened to be a very good boxer around the same time that Nigel Benn was around and boxing was on one of only 4 channels at 9pm on a Saturday night.

Froch is one of 5 or 6 "world" champions who hasn't yet faced anyone proven at the top level. He may get there; he may not... I have no anti-Froch agenda so don't want to be accused of anything here but if Froch really wants to prove he's the new man, then go to Denmark and beat Kessler.

However, I will never try to lie that Joe isnt elite. Not cos of his dodgy points win over BHop, not cos of his pointless win over RJJ.

Its that Kessler win. IMO, the best win of Joes career. I said before here that if Joe beat that fella it would be a huge win, & I still think to this day it was his best win. Kessler is a talented big punching beast of a fighter, but Joe old manned him, with great spoiling tactics to nullify Kesslers power, & it worked. Of course Joe also had to show a world class chin when he was hurt late in the fight, but Calzaghe deservedly won the fight & I bet my bottom dollar that its kessler who will cement Calzaghes legacy in the future after Mikkel has racked up some more big wins.

Now I like Froch, but Im getting tired of him calling out the best fighters & then fighting nobodies claiming hes being avoided.

& dare I say this? Against pascal, I was actually laughing at the thought of what Joe would have done to Carl had he been sharing the ring with him instead of the canadian guy, IMO Joe would have Froch out of there in 5 rounds.
As for Kessler, I think it would be quicker! Due to styles of course. Joe knew how to nullify Kesslers offence, but Froch? He has no defence. Therefore I could see Kessler punching Froch to a standstill within 3 brutal one sided rounds.
Im sure as sure can be that Froch will go nowhere NEAR Kessler.

Froch IMO has his talents, fantastic fight changing uppercut & a great chin, but hes too slow & his defence is too leaky to ever become a major player.

 

Froch is lucky to be in the top 10 SM out there.

 

Froch would be nothing more than stupid to go anywhere near Kessler at this stage. He will struggle to hit Kessler let alone change the fight - Kessler fundamentals are superb. Calzaghe largely won that fight because of the schooling of 39 fights of varying styles and a superb chin. Also, the fact that he just doesn't get hit by jabs. Kessler works pretty much everything off his jab but could hardly get it going against Joe after 4 rounds had gone. Froch on the other hand, is easy to find for a top level boxer. Pascal was able to land almost when he wanted to at points of their fight. Kessler is in a different league or two.

Like I said, Froch may improve but he's already in his 30's. Like you, I was watching the Pascal fight and couldn't help thinking about how different it would have been if Calzaghe was in there that night and it would have been a humiliation for Froch. He's got a lot of work to do to convince me he's good enough to be the best in the division but he can bang, he's exciting to watch due to his power and neglect of defence.

 

Easy peasy, the Cobra would KO Inkin within 5 rounds but he does not want the b/s WBO turd belt.
