That was exactly my feelings on the fight, I think the best of Barrera was at 126, possibly the Naz fight & Id back that version to last 12 tho lose decisively but after that Sanchez gets stronger & MAB gets weaker & Sal stops him.

Agreed, JM Marquez would be Sanchez's toughest fight from this generation's top featherweights.

I think Sanchez decision's MAB, Morales and JMM at featherweight.

Barrera was at his very best at 126. His peak performances are against; Salud, Hamed, and Sanchez, all fights that took place at Feathweight during the 2001-2003 time. His combination punching was some of the best I've ever seen, but you could argue that his power didn't carry too well.

As for Barrera vs Sanchez at 126lb, I think the best version of Marco gives Sal a hell of a fight, and possibly harder than anything Gomez, Nelson, or Lopez could offer. Sanchez had fast hands and good combinations, but I think Barrera had better punch variety, if not equal, and very fast hands himself. if MAB can take Sal's best shots, and I'm reluctant to say he can, then this could bery well be a decision for either guy. However, if I was going to pick either guy, it would probably be a UD for Sanchez. I think fighter's will, heart, and determination peaks whenever they go against a rival, and Mexico vs Mexico, is one of the biggest in Boxing. Marco took all of Morales best shots for three fights.

    Watch Barrera vs Salud.

If anybody thinks Sanchez "blows out" that version of Barrera, than they aren't being realistic. Both were great fighters.

Sanchez doesnt`blow out`Barrera at his best but I cant see Barrera of even the Salud fight (he looked punch perfect that night) having a good chance of winning on points vs Sanchez.

If Marco attacks Sal, he`ll get countered to death & busted up, if he tries to box from distance then Sanchez beats him to the punch, in & out, gets on his toes using lateral movement & basically just keeps on his toes while landing the crisper shots in almost every rd.

The 5 people that voted for Marco..... declare yourselves

Don't belittle Barrera like that, Butcher. I am a die hard Barrera fan, and liable to belittle Morales, but I never do.

Barrera is one of the best boxer/punchers of the last 20 years, and at his peak, would have given Salvador a lot of problems. It's often understated of just how good of a Boxer Barrera was, who at his best, effectively threw every punch in the book, and had lightning quick hands at 122 and 126. One of the best combination punchers I've ever seen, and I've seen my fair share. He would catch Sanchez coming in with left counters, just as Sal would also catch Barrera coming in. I see them both having many furious exchanges, as they are Mexican after all, and both could box and attack effectively.

It would not be a blow-out, and neither would it be a dominating victory for Sanchez. I give him the benefit of the doubt, but peak Barrera gives any Featherweight in history a good fight.

Im not belittling MAB, I just see this as a clear cut Sanchez win no matter which style Barrera shows up with.

I also think Sanchez beats Morales in a clear UD, tho as you might guess, I feel Morales runs him closer than Barrera would, largely due to Erik`s greater outside game & better chin.

Ps. Feel free to belittle Morales any time you want, you couldnt possibly do any more damage than those pac fan ****ers did after those soul destroying 2nd & 3rd EM/Pac fights.

Don't get me started on those Pacquiao fans. It makes me sick to the stomach when I type in Barrera in youtube, and a shitty home video comes up of some pinoys making fun of him. Apparently, everything Morales and Barrera achieved was negated by the fact Pacquiao caught them at the tail end of their careers - especially Morales.

    Morales fought for the people.

    Agree 100%

I find Pac very exciting to watch but those moronic fans (not all of them of course but an unusual amount it has to be said) make me almost root against Pac just so I can get stuck into them... but of course common sense takes back over again & I ignore the stupid pricks as they only know Pac, not boxing.

    :good

No matter what happens, Barrera and Morales can both say they took part in, what I believe to be, the greatest fight ever.

Marco was already 52 fights into his career before he ever hit FW, and a very good argument could be made that he was at his best at 122 if not lighter. Sanchez would be the bigger man here and it's tough to argue that Marco would outskill him so you gotta go with Sanchez.

Barrera was one dimensional at 122, and his second career began in 1997, when he refined his boxing skills to take on Jones in a rematch. He come up short in that fight, but from that night on, Barrera was a whole different prospect and class from the Barrera of the Mckinney fight.

Peak Barrera was at his best at 126, and I think his skills at that weight are comparable to that of Salvador's.

If you watch the early fights, he had the boxing skills but he rarely had to use them. They were already in the toolbox though. The MAB that stopped McKinney and fought EM for the first time was absolutely relentless. Jones just had his number, simple as that.

The Salud fight was at 122, unless I'm mistaken.

Barrera was fresher at 122 but the Barrera of 126 was a better fighter, better defence, more patient, equally damaging in attack.
Barrera might have had 52 or so fights at 122 but none except maybe the Mckinney fight were wars of the EM/MAB type so he stayed fresh even as far as his early 130 fights.
