    You're not mistaken.

Barrera improved as a fighter after Jones 1, his defense became much tighter, and he was winning his rematch with Jones for the first half of the fight.

I think Barrera's best ever performance was at 126lb, arguably against Hamed, and it was also one of his greatest opposition. The Sanchez fight was on par with the Salud performance, absolutely destroying a good fighter, who had only lost once and had never been stopped. We can't really say how good Barrera was against Kelley and Tapia, both fighters were shop worn, and Tapia was both smaller and also a good friend of Barrera's.

Barrera was at his best at 126 ,in my opinion, two of his greatest ever performances took place there, and also his two greatest wins. :good

Im sure I saw your name in the votes for Barrera :huh

Dont worry, I dont blame you, if that were Morales taking an ass pounding on the votes, Id probably vote for him too just to give it a better look.

    :D

Sanchez vs Barrera is a great fight, and I don't think there is any shame in somebody voting for Barrera as long as they can backup their claim.

It isn't like voting for Baldomir in a Mayweather vs Baldomir thread.

    on paper yeah.

personally, i loved watching the young-puncher mab before he made his transformation into a better tactical all around fighter.

I don't think anybody here or in the world can seriously claim that Barrera of Mckinney was a better fighter than the Barrera of Salud, Sanchez, or Hamed fight. He is a much better fighter, regardless of whether or not he always had the boxing ability. Now he was proving it.

well there are very few wars like EM/MAB in all of boxing, but he had fights against some good quality opponents. It's not something I want to have a big fight over, I just personally think MAB was a more dangerous fighter at 122 than at 126. Younger, fresher, more powerful and he could slow it down when he needed to... he just rarely needed to.

I'm really surprised you believe that, but that's fair enough.

Barrera at 122 was relentless, powerful, and young, but he was inexperienced, one-paced, and careless, also. I think that version of Barrera gets knocked out by Sanchez, ala Jones 1.

You obviously missed the post where I confirmed that I knew that. Barrera's best work got done at 126, and without those wins against Morales and Hamed, Marco wouldn't be held in such high regard as he is today. I don't think his technical ability, aside from the Salud fight, really shined at 122 as much as it did at 126, where he schooled the widely considered best 126lb fighter in the world. Barrera showed the world that Naz wasn't the best, but he was.

no doubt. i'm not claiming that mab was a better fighter before salud, sanchez.. i said personally, b/c i remember watching mab fight with my pops prior when he was KO'ing fools & fighting alot more reckless.

    Keyword being "fools"

Anybody can look like the best in the world against C-D class fighters, but Barrera looked even better against his best ever opposition. That is extremely impressive, to me.

I grew up watching favorite fighter Little Red Lopez on network TV when he was champ and KO'ing guys left and right. Then comes little known Sanchez and just lays it on Lopez and he barely takes any shots in return. Then the huge fight against Gomez where most thought Gomez would walk through Sanchez but Sanchez just destroyed Gomez. I'd take Sanchez to win by late round TKO
