It's like in almost every single fight that is tactical and doesn't have a lot of excitement and brawling the commentators seem to talk down the boxers for not putting forth any effort whatsoever or accuse them of not being that good in the first place:fire

For instance, when a hot up-and-comer like Berto (just an example) FINALLY doesn't knock someone out, all of sudden he is all hype and we should all abandon ship on him. Styles make fights and not all fights are going to be all-out brawls which is the beauty of this sport.

It's my view that HBO/SHOWTIME need to hire some new commentators who are enthusiastic about our sport and show subjective views for all styles of fights.

After they downplayed Margo's performance over Cotto, I'm through with them.

You bring up an interesting point. It is refreshing when they show an appreciation for the "science" side of boxing.

I am shocked, but I absolutely agree with you. :good

Apart from Hopkins vs Pavlik, it was the best performance of the year for me.

I pretty much agree with everything you say.

But this is only one of the 10,000 things commentators do that are killing the sport of boxing.

And commentators on the whole are only one of the 100 million things in general that are killing the sport of boxing.

In general, commentators should stop interjecting themselves into the fights altogether. They're not the event, so stop acting like it. Let the people watch the fight and let them make up their own opinions. A "less is more" approach is best.

They didnt even give AM his credit, all they did was show sympathy for Cotto.

Definitely. They always over-analyze things, and a lot of the time, their conclusions are ****.

They all suck Lennox Lewis says some things that dont even make sense half the time,Lampley always calls the wrong punches for the wrong fighter,Lederman cant judge at all,Merchant seems to be asleep half the time he comments about every 4 rounds and then at the end of the night he has his final thoughts and goes way off topic very fast,Steward claims every fight is going exactly how he thought it would or 20 secounds in he will say Fighter A is fighting the perfect fight right now. HBO announce team is annoying IMO if one guy isnt having his greatest night they just talk about him and say this isnt the same guy who did this or that or he doesnt look motivated tonight or there appears to be something wrong.
